I love that sink area, so much room to work! We have a 1984 HR Aluma Lite and it to is in pretty good shape for it's age. They sure made a good products when they made these older HR's, shame some of the newer ones won't hold up as well and as long!

Unfortunately, this is only a text update, as I'm out of town:

I worked some on the trailer this weekend, getting some more of the counter tops painted. I also attacked the tongue of the trailer to sand it down, primer it and start coating it in flat black. I pulled the LP tanks off, and they had been sitting so long they were rusted to the base!

One was still full! However, they're so rusted, I don't trust them. I also discovered I've got some critters living in the insulation underneath, and they're getting in through a hole they've chewed in the front near the tongue. I'm going to pull the bottom out on the whole thing and re-insulate it anyways, but now I need to find another aluminum sheet to replace the one they've chewed up.

Does anyone know where to get vintage RV logos? I tried to save the ones from the sides and back, but they're too far gone with sun damage.

Also, I think the converter died this weekend. Only 110 volt stuff will work; the 12 volt fixtures are out, and I didn't see any fuses blown. It is the original unit, however.

Ok... so I finally got a receiver hitch mounted on my Deuce, and I also bought a new TV for the trailer -- a 2007 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer with the tow package.

Also, testing to see what the trailer will look like with the Deuce, and moving it onto the driveway so I can work underneath it:

I had to get a pretty big drop hitch, and this route should be more useful for the truck than a massive forged drop hitch:

It does sit fairly close to level with this level drop, even if it looks nose up right now (the bubble levels showed it was nearly level).

Up for this weekend is to finish painting the countertops and I'm going to put in a home stereo I have laying around to replace the old AM push-button one.

Also, what are your opinions on something like this for the rear bumper?

Link

The idea is that I will move the spare tire to one side, bolt this receiver in the middle on top of the bumper, and use it for either a bike rack or a small trailer for a generator & fuel that I would build on this chassis:

The bumper on my trailer is 4"x4" steel, and is directly welded to the 5"x2" full-length steel box frame, so I'm not really concerned with structural integrity, but rather if that hitch would be adequate.

I used an almost identical unit on my S-10's step bumper. Worked great for a bike rack or a 4x8 utility trailer. But it did tend to twist the bumper quite a bit. I bolted 2 pieces of angle iron (bed frame rails actually ) to the "front" set of holes angling forward to the truck's frame. That really stiffened things up. If you use one keep a close watch on the rear bumper. The bouncing back there is pretty fierce.

That's too new of a vehicle to tow a "vintage" travel traler.

Started some paint this weekend.

I'm rolling it using a semigloss thinned out enough to self-level, but not enough to run. It's very durable, and sticks well to the aluminum. No need to strip the original paint, just sand smooth and clean with lacquer thinner. Provides a wonderful base for the paint. So far, I've used less than half a quart.

Have seen your logo's on e-bay.Was wondering at the time, why anyone would place a bid on something like this. Well now I know.... Older items like this seem to have a market You will have to keep in contact with the web site as they come and go.

I remember seeing those auctions a while back, and I thought about bidding, but the trailer wasn't a certain thing at that point yet.
