Wow! Superb! May I ask you you found the unit/what rental company had it!. That sound like what I'm looking for.

TIA.

Congratulations! Sounds like an excellent buy. How did you find it? (I'm looking for something similar, but 22-24 ft long.)

Thanks!

A ship in harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.

Very clean unit everything works and purrs like a kitten. Not sure if its a good deal but I feel like it is, alot of you say its a good deal as long as your (I'm) happy. Now all I have to do is dump the toyhauler. Thanks everyone for you help through this process.

DJ sounds like you found a sweet spot. Good work. The deals are out there but somethings they are like Easter eggs.

Well certainly you may ask and I'll try to help. Ours came from Canadream RV rental Link to their site however the Vanguards and Kodiak motor homes which were built by Peak mfg were discontinued a few years back. Basically what you're looking for is what is called a B+. There are many mfg.'s building these units. The above Company has "Forrest River Lexington" motor homes for sale at this time. However that specific model is not my cup of tea. If you do decide to purchase from Canadream please email or PM me as I have information that might be of value to you.

Member "ron.dittmer" has a Phoenix Cruiser, a similar rig certainly worth looking at. Also there's the Trail Lites in fact most manufacturers have a B+ model line. You shouldn't have any trouble finding one with a floor plan that you'd like

Ok guys last week I was gonna close the deal with cash in hand and I call the lady selling. She doesn't answer!!!!! ignores my calls. She SOLD IT! She had told me not to worry that the RV was mine. I guess someone gave her a little more money for unit. My wife drives by her house and its gone. No biggie, just get a better deal.

DJ those kinds of deals do not come often and they often have to be acted upon the first visit. A nice 2001 MH for $12,500 will move like a hot cake even in this market because I see units 10 years older than that listing at that price. Well at least you do not have to sell the toyhauler now.

Next time you will have more experience and will not have to way for replies from a web forum to help you to know what to do. The next deal may be more to your liking anyway so you can move quickly. These well below wholesale deals means the seller is really wanting out bad and will deal with the first one to show them the cash. Actually the demand for MH's today is quite high if the price is right. I think the sub $15K price for nice units 8 years old will aways be hot because the low initial investment yet you have about the same looks and function of a new unit costing many times more.

I went with low miles. I bought a 2001 MH with 12,000 miles. Meaning it was rarely used. The problem I found was rubber tires, hoses and belts were dry cracked. The tires were so new they still had some of the little dits on them. But they were badly dry cracked. I replaced the 6 tires, all hoses and belts.

Its been 12 months now and 9000 miles later with only the fridge going sour. The road service took care of that for like a hundred dollars deductable.

Some argue buying with more miles might give time to work out all the bugs but I went with the newest mint condition I can find in a 7 year old MH.

To the OP, sorry bout what that seller did to you. I wish ya luck in your continued search.

41, you did it just the opposite, and you did it right, you inspected and replaced the items that would be most effected by sitting time. So if the price was right, you will make out fine, and the 12K should show all of the little adjustment and fix items from the factory.
Years ago I can remember when cars and light trucks didn't last 100K, but do to technology changes of all types 100K is nothing now, and that's a good thing, because they sure cost a lot more now, so they should last longer.
Its also good that Ford and GM dont make major body changes every year, so your new, or new to you RV can still look new for up to 18 years, depending.
I do like seeing a 6, 8 or even a 12 year old MH or older, in like new appearance on the road and still out there doing its thing.
It sort of gives me the feeling mine also could look like that, and still be of value at least to me, and maybe even still admired by some others.
Good job Desertsun, yes it can be done either way.
We should start a "10 year old+ RV club"
