I was wondering if anyone with an external generator and is planning on staying awhile at a venue uses a Gas Siphon Pump to retrieve from your RV main gas tank. This would prevent you from having to carry multiple gas cans.
I saw this online and think the 5 gallon can that goes with it is worth $29.

Yes, I carry 8' of 5/16" fuel line attached to a marine (boat motor) primer bulb. Push it down into the gas tank, squeeze a few times and presto a happy genny.
Practice before you leave to be sure that the line will go down the fill pipe on your vehicle.

If transferring it from the RV tank to a container sitting lower, I think a siphon would be the preferable method. rather than having to pump that tank thingy, which central tractor sells for about $12 without the can.

I use 3/8" OD clear plastic tubing for siphoning. I have a 100 gal tank in the truck and do a lot of siphoning and never have a problem. I can lift a full can and watch the gas drop back in the tubing to the level in the tank, then insert it into another can and lower it to restart the siphon. Simple and it works.

The marine primer bulb only starts the siphoning. Once it starts, it simply passes through. No sucking on the tube with your mouth, and you don't get gas on your hands.

will it continue to siphon thru with no restriction? my local wal-mart has those setups in their clearance baskets, don't know the price however.

Yes the marine hose and bulb will allow the gas to free flow through the bulb. The bulb has 2 check valves in it to prevent backflow only. That's how it pumps up the gas.

You are "right on" about the flow through. Once it starts, it goes. I have the primer bulb on the end of the tubing, not in the middle. That way, when the tank gets full, I just coil it up and plug the bulb output end into the other end. This keep trash, etc. out of the hose.
This also is how I fill my chain saw gas can. Add oil and fill er up.

But how do you avoid the CEL that results from opening the gas cap without a fill-up..??

I was all set to buy one at walmart yesterday, then remembered that I just put a new one on a boat and should have the old one around someplace, since I never throw anything away.
