Unless you’re uncomfortable traveling alone, there is little to fear while traveling alone through Alaska or Canada. On the other hand, if you like the social experience, and the perceived security of traveling in a group, a Caravan might be a good choice.
We opted to travel alone and had no problems, except for two mechanical problems with the motorhome that would have been a big problem had we been traveling with a caravan on a fixed schedule. Although the repairs were minor, the caravan would have forged on to keep their schedule while I took care of the repairs. I would not consider a caravan, but would consider traveling with someone else on a flexible schedule.

We spent 6 weeks in Alaska in 2007. We were on our own. Only made one reservation the whole time and that was for a campground spot in Denali National Park. I had heard that it was hard to get a spot there but it turned out that it was a rumor. We had no problems being on our own. We did however run into a couple that had left a Caravan since they were very unsatisfied with the arrangments. They traveled with us for several days and enjoyed it alot more acording to them. So , I guess it's to each his own.
