I have a Dometic model RM7732 refrigerator with the side-by-side doors. Inside the main compartment, about 2/3 of the way up the right side, is a small white box that houses the light and the door switch. I want to get the cover off this box to see if I can tap into 12v power. I can pull the lens off the light, but I can't get the cover off this box. I don't see any screws. I've pulled on it until I was afraid it would break. How do I remove this cover?

My OPINION is that would be a poor place to tap into the 12 volt system as the light is fused from the fridge control board. Adding draw doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

I don't really know as I have not removed mine. Perhaps it slides or turns. Disclaimer.... if you break it don't send me a bill. LOL

if your doing this to put a fan in , get your power from the back of the frig, run the fan wire thru the same hole that the thermal tube goes thru . I went one step further, I drilled a hole in the center of the front plastic case ,installed a led switch ,I turn the fan on from there .total time about a hr , looks like factory fit . in my opinion the factory should be puting these fans in .

I guess I will find out tomorrow as that is my project for tomorrow morning to install a fan and get into the light/switch assembly. If it turns out to be too much trouble then I will go thru the back and tap in there. That light is not fused seperately at least not on my Dometic as I have studied the schematic already.

Once the cover is off it will keep falling off! As others have said get your fan power from the Back of the fridge! By the way the Light goes out when the door is closed so the power isn't there anyway!

Funny thing about this post - I had the same prob, although in my case the switch was failing. I called Dometic, and he pointed me to a screw, barely visible, at the top of the area where the bulb is mounted. Couldn't see it (w/o a mirror) but it CAN be felt. Once I removed same, everything was accessable. As the replacement switch costs $16 + shipping. did a thorough cleaning with contact cleaner and compressed air, and . . so far so good.

That is where I added my fan.. The added draw is less than the fuse's capacity, Way less. If you put the fan ACROSS the switch, then when the light is on the fan is off and the added draw is.. ZERO (I put mine so it runs all the time)
