We are getting ready to go camping and use our direct tv receiver. We set it up yesterday in the yard to make sure everything worked. We did get a picture but I think something may be wrong still and since we are using the dreaded Concertone it could be with that. Ok here is what we did...took receiver out of the house connected it to the swtiches in the TT for SAT and TV. We connected the Red, Yellow and White connectors to their appropriate colors. When we got a signal we were on the Concertone setting of TV channel 3. The picture is not as clear as it is in the house not bad just not clear and we have sound. Now when we change the setting on the Concertone unit to Input 2 we have a very clear picture (better than the house) but no sound at all. So is this user error or a wiring error? Any one else out there using Direct TV in their TT with a Concertone set up and can help?

Thanks,
Michelle

Im guessing that what you are getting on channel 3 is a composite signal from the Direct TV box, a single cable with 'F' connector?- your getting pix and sound poorly- indicates too much loss from Direct TV to concertone- loose/poor F connector. But when you tune the Concertone to Input 2, you dont get sound- sounds like a wiring problem, check your red white and yellow connectors from Direct TV to Concertone cables, then Concertone cables to back of Concertone. Confirm connectors to the concertone are OK by wiring a DVD player or tape player to the input 2 connectors on the wall outlet instead of the Direct TV.
Sorry if explaination might be confusing- good luck.

On my Concertone (zx500) I use the red/wht/yel connections from the back of the Dish box to the plate inside my cabinet
You have to be CAREFUL which red/wht/yel you use
Input 1 (?) is for Composite video w/ sound
Input 2(?) is labeled for gaming consoles & even thought it has all 3 jacks, the SOUND connection does not have an input on the Concertone end like the other input has...ie...No Sound
Sounds to me like this may be your problem

Have a Wildcat 5W c/w concertone zx500 No problems so far, except the feedback at volume 1.Only used it with CD's & IPOD. Want to use the DVD but not sure how to hook it up. Have my own TV. Under the shelf of the TV,there's 2 coaxial outlets that join each other, is this the outlet I should start at? Would like to enjoy the 5.1 surround, instead of seperate DVD player, playing from the TV 's speakers. But after reading all the forums about the problems with Concertone zx500, maybe I should leave it alone? The trailer is 1 year old. Any suggestions would be great.
