Many busy preserves stay full and you are forced to use these if you are passing thru and want to just spend a day or so at the preserves.
so you might get stuck with a no service whatsoever site with TT, especially at popular preserves. that contradicts a previous post, thanks. exactly what I was talking about posting.

I think I will stick with the Federal and State parks.I can stop at a Wall Mart parking lot for free with no services. But then that is not free to have my wife that close to Wall Mart. Some times parking at Wall Mart can get expensive.

I have never been 'stuck with a no service whatsoever site' at TT, besides the economy is so bad all of the campgrounds are empty any way. The most important piece of information about TT is; do not listen to anyone on this forum that is not a current member of TT. For they do not know what they are talking about.

they certainly know what has been said by previous posters in the know. and you probably get a better, less biased viewpoint than somebody who was dumb enough to spend $12,000 for a membership and contract for $700 a year fees with an unbreakable contract, but that's JMHO.

Camp grounds empty. You have not been to Florida.Wait a few months and try to get in Top Sail,Silver River,Or any along the coast. The first open week in one I looked at was next April.I do go in the middle of the week three to five days and get in pretty well where we want to go.The only down side of State and Federal is the fifteen day stay rule if you are snow birds which I am not.But glad it is there or you would not be able to camp a few days at a time down here.
For us we have figured out five days is about all we want in one place at a time.We do want to take a two or three month tour of this great county next spring.Just a few days here and there. We more or less have covered the south east and one trip to Colorado. But more or less stayed it one place when we got to Steam Boat. That was a miss stake should have went on in a few days.

This may be true but in the 25 years that we have been members we have never stayed in "overflow" or "primitive sites" and we have pulled in at Palm Springs Preserve on Christmas day with no res and got a site {overnight only} four out of six times as we traveled to Yuma. Been to Pio Pica with no res in June and got a site twice. Guess we were just lucky

Have you ever been to Texoma, or Tawakoni on any holdiday or in the summer? I have many times and many times I have had to use the "overflow" sites. But I must admit, for 2-3 days , it really isnt a problem. But people need to know they are there. Have you tried to use the Fla resorts on the weekend? Good luck.

Since I am not a current member of TT, please feel free to ignore this post, but I don't think it has been mentioned yet in this thread that someone posted in the past that some/many/all of these outfits have a distance from your HOME park that you can't stay in other parks so they recommended that you NOT make your home park near your actual home so you have an assortment of parks to use close by.
But like I say, I am not currently a member so please ignore this warning.
thanks for your support.

bumpy... Do YOU really KNOW anyone that has spent $12,000 for a membership with $700 yearly fees with an unbreakable contract???
We have attended several TT sale presentations, and within a very short time, they dropped their price.. Best offer we got, was
$4995, and turned it down..
We did buy into a Campground Membership, but not with TT... I do know a few that did buy into TT, most paid less than $2000, they bought a resale and did their homework.. At the time we bought our Membership, we could not find a TT for sale for less then we paid for our Membership..

I don't "know" anybody who has paid $2,000 for a member ship either. the point is, human nature being what it is, we hate to admit not making good decisions. as somebody has said before in this forum, if somebody sez that the RV they bought and own is the greatest thing since sliced bread, they have a certain skepticism about the statement. However, if somebody sez that the RV they bought and own is the biggest piece of junk on the road, then my ears pick up and I begin to listen more closely.
As I said earlier, somebody should put together a "fact sheet" on this issue covering all of the bases. take the emotion out of the situation. there is a huge difference between a full timer getting into something like this and somebody with 2 weeks of vacation and some weekends to camp.
Oh and with respect to the unbreakable contract, yes.
