Gave up on selling because I refuse to sell at todays market prices. We'er signing papers today and leasing to a young family for a year. At the end of the month we will begin our new life and if we like it next year we'll sell. Plan on going first to Birmingham area and spend time around my brother and his family.

We're accepting a cash offer today..guaranteed the money in 10 days.No inspection, no hassle. Buyer also made an offer on the remaining furniture and we're taking that also. Probably self convincing logic but the longer we wait for our price, the more potential maintenance, repair, taxes, insurance we'll have that will eat up some of the extra selling price.....if and when it goes up.
I lost twice as much in the market in one day this week then the difference between our asking price and what we're accepting. Tired of being battered around by the economy and all the conditions out of our control. Invested most of retirement in conservative instruments and kept a house in Corpus Christi which is rented. Hope to be joining the ranks of the full timers on my birthday in October.
Time to make some memories.
Be safe out there.

Smart move. Waiting for the prices to go back up may be a very long wait. Personally I think the bottom is near, but nobody really knows. But most agree that once the bottom is found we'll resume 'normal' appreciation again, so it'll be a long time before the values are back where they were at the height of the boom.
The stock market also we come back. It goes up, it goes down. People create this themselves. If you know how to do it you can make a lot of money by hollering - "The sky is falling" and getting a sell off going - then next day you pickup some of the bargins. The secret is knowing which 'bargins' will come back the next day or week

We put our house on the market in November of 2007. We started full timing then. Everything was either sold in 7 garage sales or put in a 5x9 storage cube. We didn't keep much, family pictures and keepsakes. I hired a local scout troup to handle snow removal while we were in Texas and Florida for the winter. We signed on for volunteer work for the summer at Hillsdale state park in Kansas so we would be close to the house in the spring and summer. We made a 6 month committment. So after 2 months, we sold the house, and all the furniture with it. WE didn't expect to sell so early in the year. The good people of Kansas let us leave early, so we were able to get to Florida just before our first grandchild was born! Speaking of born, we were born for full timing! It's a great life, we'll be in Pembroke Pines Fla. until Dec. 27th and then we're off to the hill country of Texas until spring. We couldn't miss that babies first Christmas, now could we? Have a great fall and winter everyone....Dave

We have been living in our fifth wheel since July, and we love it. House has been on the market since the end of August and as of last week we are under contract to close on October 24th. The buisiness is under contract and will be done by November 1st. Then we are headed south for the winter. Not sure where we are going or where we will end up, but thats the fun of it.

That's the good part of being an old full-timer, you can break the rules, have fun, and dress the way you want. Heck, I can even wear stripes with plaids if I want to. Have a ball, Dave
