I am not sure what I am paranoid about. (Will something leak on the ground or spray everywhere, will I connect the hose correctly etc?)
Will I be able to get some type of assistance if needed? Should I ask the person behind me in line to help? When I called the state park, they said a maintenace man can possibly help.
I am sure once I do this the first time, I will be OK after that.
It is the same as doing it at your campsite. at least it was for me. Just hookup the sewer hose, drop it in the hole. Pull the valve, and let it out. then rinse as you would at your campsite. Nothing special. Maybe there won't be a line. There wasn't at the NP, on the BRP.

Goreds2. I filled an old boot sock with sand and place over the hose where it goes into the dump. This holds everything in place while dumping. (Be careful not to get "stuff" on the sock.) I also use this sock at full hookup sites.

Well at least someone here had the same thought as we had about the movie "RV" with Robin Williams and not knowing how to dump his waste at the RV Park and having and audience and then the big finale
When we had our Class C we had some peformances with using a waste hauler that you had to tow to dump station and having help from the kiddies.

I had nightmares about my first dump...I also saw the movie with Robbin Williams..and did not want to star in the sequel...so I got a site with full hook up..so I could dump in private with no line waiting behind me. All went well and I even have the home video to prove it. I had the entire faimly watching!!!!
See you on the road!

My hose connection is pretty much vertical so I'm always afraid that the weight of the waste in the hose might pull the hose off the connector at the RV. For this reason I always compress the hose a bit between the valve and the compartment floor to take the weight off the connection.

I use the Hose Buddy to prevent the dreaded hose whip. The bottom is specially formed to surround the 90 degree fitting and the end straddles the hose. You fill it with water (1 gallon), sit it on the fitting and hose, and let'r rip. It never moves. When done you just empty the water, which makes it lightweight to carry.

I think we were all nervous. In fact, despite all the worry and trial runs, I still managed to dump my gray tank before my black one the first time. No problem, a couple of days and I was able to clean it up correctly.
One thing I did early on was fail to completely shut the bayonet valves after dumping--still have to double check them to this day--just a mental block!
Also, remember to pick up the hose before you disconnect from the dump station to make sure all the gray water is out of where the hose bellies on the ground.
You will be, like all of us, fine and I certainly can empathize with your fears--like driving the darn things--until you do it, it seems such a major challenge.

The FIRST time you will do ok. Because your nervious you will be very carefull to check everything twice(or 4 - 5 times). After about 3 or 4 times of dumping and your an overconfident 'PRO'.... Uh.. be sure to wear hip-waders along with your rubber gloves.
Don't ask how I know this.

Why Am I Nervous About My First Time At The Dump Station?
Maybe because you heard what happened to our friends. Camping World did some work on it before their first trip (had to replace a valve on the toilet). He did everything right except to make sure the blackwater drain was closed. When he took the end cap off he made a mess. Lesson to be learned; make sure both gray and blackwater valves are closed before dumping. You should have no problems and as already stated ask for help if needed. We have all been there at one time or another. If you do have a problem it makes for a great story somewhere down the road when you get over it.
