Hey guys,

Curious why KZ Spree's are seemingly so much pricier than comparable models. Don't get me wrong, I fully understand the "good, better, best" quality standards that exist in every industry; however this one has me stumped. The Spree 245KS and the 289KS retail anywhere from $29K-$35K here in the Northwest. They're nice little trailers, but I just don't get the 20-25% increase in price.

For you KZ owners out there, how much of a discount were you willing to negotiate? I flat out won't pay more than $20K for 25'-30' TT.

You may be looking at a used unit for that price. Brand-new, most trailers that size should be over $20K. Ours retailed for $29K, and we're only 150 miles from where it was built (if that). Delivery costs will be higher to the west coast if you have a midwest-built unit. Our dealer offered a sizable discount, but it was still over $20K.

When we were looking at "brand new TT" I was amazed at how much they mark up the price and what you can actually get them for. For instance I was looking at a 09 Keystone Springdale 266 RLSSR, the price on the internet was somewhere in the area of $25K, when I called the dealership in my area and told them I found another one on the net for just about 19K (which was just about 2000 miles away and I told him I would drive that for for $6,000), he dropped his price to $18,900 just like that, AMAZING!!!

I really like my KZ product. I know why they are more than some, but just my opinion. I would definitely buy another.

No argument there. I love them too. I'll work on the dealer as much as I can; and with winter fast approaching I may be able to get them down as much as 30-35%. If not, there's always the used circuit.

Discout? Man these prices are way above MSRP even here in Canada.

Try waiting for an RV show to be in your area. That's how I got mine. I got my KZ for about $4500 less than what the lot price was.

When we bought our spree we shopped similar units from all the big names(Jayco, Keystone, Forest River and R-vision). There was about a 12% difference from the most expensive to the lowest price. So we didn't see the 20-25% increase you mentioned, actually the Jayfeather was the most expensive TT we looked at.

From what I've seen in my area the Spree is on the higher side of the price point but not out of line.

I have a KZ Spree 318BHS. The list on this unit (LX version) was about $32K. I think that we paid $26K. I believe others in this list have negotiated down o the $24K area for this trailer.

BUT!

I've found that the fit and finish were very good. The converter is a 3 stage converter in the RV, which is more then you get with most RV's. The RV in general has been without flaw. I believe that I got what I paid for. I might have paid more, but I also got more.

I'm just suffering from "pucker" syndrome right now given everything that's going on with the economy. $20K+ seems like a lot of money to part with, but my boys are only 2 1/2 years old and I foresee us using the trailer an awful lot in the next 5-10 years. Like everyone, I want the "perfect" trailer (impossible I know), and the 289KS would be ideal for us. It's short when closed, has a separate bunkroom with a door that closes for privacy, and it would allow for them to bring along friends, cousins, and grandparents down the road.

Decisions, decisions.
