I don't know where all of you are getting your 91 octane gas, but where I live, it's 87, 89, and 93 octane, and i've watched the gas man pull his hose from the tanker and fill all 3 tanks with the exact same gas. The only thing i've seen him do is pour a gallon container of something into the 89 and a 5 gallon container into the 93 before he fills the tanks. I'm not sure what that is, but if I find out what it is, and if it's available to the public, i'll let you know. I'd buy a bottle of it to add to my gas tank and then fill it and have 93 octane gas in mine for 87 price plus the bottle.

I've seen this happen where I live at over 5 stations, with 3 different gas companies, so it's common practice here. May be different where you live, but our gas companies all do the same thing with each tank.

If I don't meet your expectations
Maybe you should lower your standards.

Check the requirements of your generator.

I have service manuals on a lot of different equipment and some say that higher octane will cause the Cyl./piston to carbon up.

I fill my TH tank with the higher octane fuel and add stabalizer so I'm always using stablized fuel in all my toys, generator, lawnmower, weedeater, etc.,

The difference in price is very minimal for the higher octane fuel, in my opinion.

Octane rating does not relate to the energy content of the fuel. It is only a measure of the fuel's tendency to burn rather than explode. anti-knock

I filled up my car yesterday. The pump had 87, 89 and 91 octane here in Memphis.
