I hope I have posted this in the right forum. I have just purchased a Coleman roadtrip grill 9941 and purchased the vinyl carrying case that is really designed for the 9949 grill but they no longer make the one specific for the 9941. Any Hoo, I am looking for recommendations for packing this grill. I have packed the two accessory griddle and grill in the velcro pouches, I turned the full griddle (i purchased separately) upside down and layed flat ontop of the pockets and then placed the grill and cinched it with velcro straps. I guess what I am wondering is if I should wrap any of these accessories in towels or some cloth, put things in plastic bags, etc? Especially the full griddle should that be protected better? Any suggestions for practical use of this grill would be great. I have never used one in the past and I am new to popup camping.
Thanks,
brian

Hello!

I have one of these grills and although they are very "convenient" they can be a pain!

I keep my grills in a plastic garbage bag as the BBQ is kept in our 5ver basement. This helps keep the grease and smell out of our RV. They are very difficult to keep clean. I use foil to cover the entire inside bottom and use Pam on the actual grills.

The grills themselves are difficult to cook on because they have that "paddle" looking design in the middle. Food gets burnt there (fried literally) and where the grill is open is usually undercooked.

I have never had any problems with the Coleman but it does take some time to get used to! Not like cooking on a "normal" BBQ.

Best of luck!

I have the blue 9941 roadtrip grill with the stand and one size fits all 9949 carrying case. Everything fits and it slides right into my basement storage. We cook almost everything on it and everything comes out great.

I have recently replaced the original cast aluminum grates and griddles with the newer cast iron porcelain coated grates and griddles. We didn't notice any difference in cooking though.

I travel with a Roadtrip grill and have the full grill, as well as, an extra wire burner cover (for pot to set on).Cleaning is,indeed a pain, as previously stated. I found a large duffel bag type suitcase at a discount house that is large enough to fit everything except the stand into. Bag is made of cheap plastic stuff so I can just wash it and hose off when it gets dirty inside.I have a compartment in the motorhome (last on passenger side) that I can put the stand, then the loaded duffel on top and 4 lawn chairs on top of them.Works well for me. Good luck.

I cannot believe all of the negative comments. I bought mine three years ago and love it. I have the blue unit which is the one that you put water in the drip pan. It cooks evenly even with the solid center which everyone mentions. It cleans up very easily which means no odor or greese in the storage area. I am planning to buy a back up unit for when mine wears out just in case they stop making it. I do not wrap it up or theat it with special care. Of course I am carful to not scratch the cooking surfaces.

I know this was not your question, but I thought I would share this. DH found that it was easier to clean the drip pan if he filled it with soapy water before cooking.
