I have never stayed there, just driven past it a bunch of times. It is about a mile from US 77. If you want something right on US 77, there is a place in Lexington, Sonny's RV Park, about 20 miles south, that is right off the highway.

Thanks so much for the help of a campground in the area. On Rockdale, how did it look, like a place you would stay? Will definitely check into Sonny's. Thanks

It doen't look bad. It looks like mostly residents working in the area. Always a bunch there. That's just from driving by on occasion.

Just went through there, flat amazed at how many RV parks a place that size has. Agree that probably most occupants are semi-permanent. The one I liked the looks of best just passing by on the highway was out of town to the west on the south side of 79.
Otherwise Rockdale is a nice enough place to stay. Really depends on what you're looking for. It has a Wal-Mart, McDonalds, etc. Can't imagine there is a lot of tourist type activity in the immediate area (hence the conclusion on RV park occupants). But, centrally located to Austin, Waco, Temple, College Station.

Thanks for the input, you know sometimes it is hard to pick a campground site unseen and just from a website, so your observations are greatly appreciated. We are looking for a place for overnight on our way to the valley. Again thanks for all your help.
