We are leaving the last of Dec. coming across Hwy54 in KS, Ok and joining in Interstate 40 West. What is the best route to Quartzsite from Interstate 40?

I would recommend taking state highway 95 south into Quartzsite. I have taken it a couple of times, it is a nice road.

I like the BLM campground that is 8 miles north of Quartzsite, it is really quiet, less dust than the other campgrounds.

Take a look also at 17 south from Flagstaff then 101 around Phoenix to the 10 then west to Quartzsite. I think the roads are better.

I-40 west to Winslow AZ (free city RV park) (see freecamprounds.com) then to Flagstaff (Or south from Winslow on AZ State 87 to Cottonwood) south on I-17 (nice state park in Cottonwood 1/2 way down I-17) then to AZ State HW 74 (this is on the far north side of Phoenix (no heavy city traffic) then west to Wickenburg. ($5 dry camping in rodeo grounds northeast side of town) Then US 60 west towards Quartzsite. Nice easy route and you don't have to go way far north and then down through Lake Havasu. But then again AZ State HW 95 south of Lake Havasu is a great scenic drive.

Have a great trip

Either the hwy 17 south out of Flagstaff and down to I-10 then west to Q. Some nice scenery that way or by going west on I-40 to hwy 95. Then hwy 95 south to Parker. At Parker head east on hwy 95/72. A few miles east of Parker 95 will split off and go due south into Q. The BLM lands where one can park start around the Plomosa Rd. connection. That is where we stay. It is about 6 miles or so north of Q. Not nearly as dusty as the stuff in Q or south of Q. But there are no services.

At the BLM stuff south of town they have water and a dump and of course you are closer to town. There is a fee for staying at those "improved" areas. It's not bad but does cost a few $$$.

Good luck and have a great trip.

The best way is to avoid going thru Phoenix And take I-40 to AZ Hwy. 95 to Parker and on to Q/site, and if you are low on gas fill up around Kingman or wait till you get to Quartzsite
have a good trip

I second the "avoid Phoenix" comment. Way too much traffic.

Regarding the gas.... definitely fill up in Kingman rather than on down the road. In Parker the best place to get fuel of all kinds.... gas, diesel, and propane is located just east of the main intersection in Parker. Hwy 95 and 72. Of course once you get into Q you get pretty good prices. But the station in Parker is by far the best. I can't remember the name of the place. But it is just a few blocks east of the Terrible Herbst station which is very expensive. It is a multi tone bule and white color.... as best I can remember. Maybe someone will know the name..... anyway... have a great trip.
