My cellphones are up for free replacement and I'm wondering about upgrading to the Verizon Blackberry. I have the Verizon air card for our internet useage and it works very well.
Is there any good reason to add the Verizon Blackberry to my Verizon contract for cell useage and perhaps limited email useage? Does it cost more for the Verizon Blackberry airtime?
I like the toys, but don't want to get in over my head...what I have now works.

I couldn't live without my Blackberry. It handles all of my messaging (4 e-mail accounts, and SMS) with ease. Beware, the Blackberry BIS data plan is extra (even if you already have a data plan on something else).

If you haven't bought yet wait a month or two. The new BlackBerry Storm from Verizon is going to give the AT&T Bold a run for it's $$$. Both the Bold and the Storm though are going to offer a lot more features and run on each carriers faster networks for a much better internet experience. Something the world of BlackBerry users has been waiting for. Not to mention if you needed to (with an extra cost) you can tether these to your laptop computer for a wireless modem which is nice to have if you need to access something from your computer.

It depends on what you are trying to do.
If you are just looking to tether your laptop, you can do that with most of the Verizon phones. I am using it with my KRZR. As long as you pay for your data plan. There are ways to get around that and use your airtime instead of paying for a full data plan.
Crackberry is a different animal. The point of having one is that is so you do NOT have to lug your laptop and everything is self contained.
I Do have a BB Bold. It is pretty cool, but I can see the Storm would be much cooler(touch screen). If I did not have to do international travel, I would wait for the Storm. The only advance the Bold has is it finally added WiFi and 3G. the old GSM/GPRS/EDGE BB was just slow.

FYI the Storm is an international device and has dual radio both GSM and EVDO .. EVDO-REVA is also faster than AT&T 3G and REV-0 is a huge bunch faster than EDGE with the "old" BlackBerry.

I went by the Verizon store today and found that I can get a new Blackberry instead of my present flip phone and use it instead of my USB720 for the same exact money and no 5 gig limit. It will act on my laptop just like the USB720. Sounds like the way to go......but it can't be connected to the Wilson antenna. I find that at least 20% of the time, we need the WIlson to make a connection in some parts of the country. So I'm keeping what I have.

That's what I do when I am traveling for work. The laptop is tethered to the ATT Crackberry. when I am traveling for fun(RV), the personal laptop is tethered to the Verizon KRZR.
I hate carrying more device that I have pockets for. When I am on the road(work), I have 3 phones(usually 1 for each country) plus the Crackberry. now if they can make a phone that can take multiple sim cards.... then we would have something.
I did see the spec on the Storm, very nice. I need to see if I can get a Storm in Singapore or Hong Kong when I get out there next week. That would be really really really cool to have. I like my Canadian Bold's higher contrast/ hi res screen and icons. It is a big improvement from the old Curve's.
