Just came back from the 2008 Snowbird rv show at the tradex in Abbotsford B.C. On sale for $74,000.00(CDN) was a Jayco 2009 Melbourne fully loaded. As I am thinking of RV'ing at least 1/2 the year but am still looking around for a vehicle I was wondering if Jayco is a good rig and if this price is good. I will take any info I can get. Cheers John

Jayco makes an excellent product. And customer service is one of the best in the industry. I don't have a Melbourne at present, but if and when our present circumstances change, that is what I will be getting.

I can only comment on the Jayco reputation and agree with the previous poster - Jayco's customer service reputation is unsurpassed. They provide unrivalled support even after the warranty is expired. They also make a good product.

I own a 08 Melbourne 26A on a 07 E-450 Ford Chassis. The quality of the components is comparable to other middle price MH.
I also went to the Jayco Rally this August and toured the manufacturing facility. That was a disappointment. The only quality control is that supplied by the component manufacturer. Jayco supplies no organized control over the workforce quality that should be obvious in a facility of this size and magnitude.
Most of the problems I have experienced with my purchase are a result of "No Quality Control". I understand this is standard for the RV industry in general. This disappoints me.
Knowing that no other RV manufacturer makes use of quality control, I probably would still purchase the Melbourne because of layout and aesthetics.
As a group, we the buyer, should insist on “Quality Control” from all RV manufacturers.
Search the archives for post on the Jayco Melbourne. I have posted at length about my buying experience as have others.

We full-time in a 2008 Melbourne 29D tow a Jeep liberty with two kayaks. I just completed my first year and 15,000 miles average 8.5 MPG. I have weight it several times currelty at 14200 loaded.
things I have added. Auto Hydro Bigfoot Jacks, tilt for HD TV's, Scangauge Auto computer, Tow setup, second HD-DVR bedroom, Pot and Pan slide under sink.....and lots of stuff.
Problems
Tail lites cover mount upside down, dash radio failed I-10 trip and door is hard to close.
