Here is our answer from Four Winds - for those who did not read my thead about our year old Class C that we bought we 300 miles on it; the "paint" on it seems to be flaking off on the outside.
Any thoughts other than sending out the bad news that they are a HORRIBLE company? Where does it state that we as owners are to check the "seals" after one year????? Am I missing something?

Come on Stony- you can do better than this!! This is about customer service and perhaps you should exceed the expectations of your customers!

Maybe your customers will purchase another unit from you? or maybe not. I suspect that later- as the customer can vote- with their wallet.

I believe in today's market this type of attitude would change, as the customer has LOTS of choices.

two of the main issues facing rv'ers today, delamation-poor construction, and parking rights. how is keeping water out of a outside unit the owner's problem when new?, the laws that cover auto's wouldn't let them get by w/that kind of sh*.#, so why should other builder's? second is the warranty issue if a unit has 1yr or 2yr why would it matter who own's it? i know this is their song and dance, mabey you need to get all the lemon owner's together for a class action suite? win the one and the rest will have to follow. next we need to contact our congressmen/women to give us some laws for basic protection if they are not all ready there...putting away my soapbox now, been there and had to buy the same ticket, and even if you swear never to buy that company's product again, they swap around holdings and change names so much, that you could end up in their craddle again, good luck keeping up....

who left the light on? is it me or are we leaning downhill. where did the dog run off to

So, he has no idea, but it was caused by poor maintenance?

It would have been far easier for his to simply say, "we ain't payin' nothin'".

Sounds like you're on your own, unless you can convince the dealer to help you.

Hi all, A few months back I was looking at a 1 yr old used Born Free at the Born Free dealer here in Florida and was told by the manager that the the 3 yr warranty was only good to the first owner. So I said good bye and kept my money. Born Free is good but they won't get my business.

Well...there it is in the owner's manual:
"All exterior seals should be checked and resealed at least every 6 months"
Huh.
This should be something that the dealer is REQUIRED to tell you.
(Just cause not everyone reads the whole manual)
Also: "Failure to maintain seals through regular maintenance can lead to damage of motorhome, and may be considered abusive treatment under your vehicle warrenty."
FYI to anyone that did not know this -

Thats the same reply I got from Four Winds wnen my unit was only 4 months old (first owner). Only this time out of the goodness of their heart they said they would repair both walls that had delaminated. As stated Four Winds are JUNK

I know there is a lot of trashing of RV manufacturers on this forum and my current coach company gets a lot of it (Gulf Stream). However, I have owned both Four Winds and Gulf Steam and I have to say that Gulf Stream has been head and shoulders above Four Winds. GS has taken care of all my issues (and they have not been too severe) while FW generally would tell me that was the nature of the coach and I would just have to live with it. Like all of you, I wish all RV companies would truly put the customer first (especially at the price points of these things) and do what is right to repair issues with our coaches. I would not buy a FW again but, because of a good experience with GS, I would buy another of their products.

I'm going to play devils advocate here for a moment.

Manufacturers have to draw a line somewhere and that line will always tick someone off. Really how long and after and how many owners would it take to make us happy, how about forever. For some even this wouldn't be good enough.

I have to agree with the manufacturer here - rules are rules, and I think Four winds was about to do something but once they found out maintenance was at fault they washed their hands of it.

Really again, it's not only good enough that instructions are in BLACK AND WHITE, in the manual the DEALER must hold customers hands and read the manual to them ....oh come on now!

Some manufacturers do soft recalls, where it's not a real recall it's only a recall if you scream loud enough. They do it this way otherwise it could cost them millions, because people with any blemish will go back to the dealer and the dealer would fudge the problem and repaint the whole coach and bill the manufacturer - a little exaggeration but you but my point.

GM has had overheating Duramax diesels since 2004 and they still deny it, I know I had one with 1000 miles it went into the red,and thousands since have had problems, but according to GM it doesn't exist.

Come on people. You expect the manufacturerer to warrant its product to the 2d, maybe 3d and 4th owners? The warranty is very explicit in that it says original owner. You bought it used, you should have had someone check it, but like everyone else says, buy used and save 30 percent.
