I have a 2007 2500HD gas burner and pull a 26' fithwheel. I am looking at buying a 51 gallon toolbox/fuel tank. The company I am looking at is RDS, these tanks are made for gas or diesel per the company. Does anyone have a tank like this and what do you think about it?

I wouldn't use it for gas personally, but I know others have.

Don't you like those 200 mile pitstops?

200 miles if you are lucky. Why would you not use it for gas?

Installed a smaller RDS tank in my last gasser and was very happy with it. Couldn't use an in bed tank with my 2500HD so now have a TF replacement tank. Go for it.

RDS in perry fl makes all sorts of tanks for sellers like tsc ect. I had perry make me one to my dimensions. Good company to deal with.

Although I use it for diesel it has a plackard welded to the side that says it meets specs for unleaded gas also.

I have the 60 gal combo from the same company for my 2500 chevy diesel. I think it's the best option I've gotten. Just came back from a 15000 mile trip and can't tell you all the times I was glad I had it. I'm very satisfied with the quality and looks. I installed the unit myself in about 2 hrs. I'm one happy camper.

I have had a RDS 90 gallon tank and tool box in the back of the bed since 2001 have been well satisfied with it, has saved me several times from being out of fuel, have been asked why so big I always say well you don't have to fill it full, and I like the room in the tool box for all the tools I carry,,,,,,

I have traveled all over this country and part of Canada. I have always been able to find a gas station when I needed one. Why carry extra gas?

My TV carries 35 gallons in the main tank and has a 105 gallon aux tank with a GPI top mounted 12V pump & hose setup. When my reserve bell sounds I seek a spot to get off the road and spend about 5 to 10 minutes transferring 28 to 30 gallons of fuel.

I would not leave home without it, eg: we are currently 2145 miles into our fall trip and have filled it twice now and still have about 70 gallons left in it and about 15 in the truck tank.

The first fillup was in Madras, Or about 10 days ago at $3.99 per gallon. Filled again just west of Spokane,Wa @ 4.01 per gallon last Sunday. All pricing we'd seen up to that point had been $4.49 to $5.09 per gallon for diesel. In total dollars it is not a lot of money, but those two fillups have saved me between $90.00 & $200.00 so far on this trip.

My main interest is to not get stuck in the boonies short of fuel or getting screwed over at some out of the way fuel spot because I'm nearly out of fuel.

We travel back roads ( the YELLOW one on most maps ) whenever we can and have found ourselves long distances from any services many times, sometimes searching for a wide spot to hole up for lunch or the night and I don't want fuel to be on the list of concerns.

The "Weight Police" will question the hauling capacity of my rig and I will listen to them and walk away smiling because my TV has been towing heavy loads for 120,000 mile thus far and not suffered any misfortune or excessive wear that I know of. It recently had it's transfer and injector pumps replaced and just now is having it's torque convertor replaced which in actuality is way past it's expected life in this version of Dodge truck.

It's all about what you want and what's important to you, mines the convenience of choosing when, where and at what price I purchase my next load of fuel.

Enjoy
