Anyone who believes Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac gave loans to poor people to help them is not thinking far enough. It was created to make more money for investors in construction, finance companies, those selling real estate, etc. It meant more or bigger bonuses and commissions, they get paid even if the house is not paid for. They made a profit on the volume of deals they made.
They did not think far enough ahead, believed they could do it forever.
Top executives may have thought that far ahead, that the politicians could not let Wall Street fail, and would bail them out as they had already bailed out others.
We can not blame the government, WE ARE the Government.
If we know politician are not doing the best for us, elect someone different. If they will not work for us, elect another you believe will do better. Keep doing it, we can have Virtual Term Limits, if they will not create them.
Finally, one day they may wake up and realise they have to do a better job.

It is closer to the 8,000 now than what it was when he posted.
I am the one who predicted the Dow would drop to near 8,000. Even Jim Cramer now predicts it may go to 8300.
O.K. Dick, Enough is enough. How about predicting a reversal so we can see a decline in the pain that America is going though.
You lost credibility with me when you quoted Cramer.

We are at the bottom or very close to it as of today. Many won't believe that but I don't believe we will go much lower than we are right now. We've been mostly in cash for almost a year and a half now, its time to start cherry picking some buys.

Exactly!
The problem with holding cash is that cash don't rally.
With cash, the only way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket

If this is near the bottom....
Can someone explain to me whay the Banks are borrowing $75 Billion daily(a record)from the Federal Reserve?
And last week it was $44 Billion daily.
Where is this money coming from?
Also the details for the "BAILOUT" are still being worked and is not expected to start implementation for about a month.
And now I hear the the Gov't is going to start taking over banks!!!!
The bottom...the bottom of what????

Seems to me that the problem at hand is one of those requireing an "out of the box" solution. The folks who have been proposing solutions were and are part of the problem. The Beard and Baldy need to go to the showers and have a new team put in. Standard solutions are not working. To paraphrase Shakspeare "First get rid of all the MBA's".
I surely don't know the solution, but I surely know these folks don't!!
