It burns you twice! I've had a whole casserole dish full in two days. It's screamin good.

I'd hoped you get my tone- the smiley thingies weren't working! Anyway I mentally substitute Poblanos or cubanells(sp?).

My mom calls this recipe "Sinful Potatoes" and my MIL called it "Those Potatoes". Gosh, I haven't had these in years - love them.

I make something similar that we call Cheesy potatoes. Just take 5 pounds of potatoes and peel them and cut into bite sized pieces..add water to pan just enough to cover potatoes and boil until tender. Drain potatoes and add 8 ounces of sour cream, real bacon bits, and your favorite cheese...I use shredded co-jack cheese. Put in 13x9 pan sprayed with Pam and bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes until bubbly. If you like them, you can add chives for taste and color. You can make these up to 1 day ahead and just cover pan and refrigerate until needed...very yummy...great with burgers, ribs, bbq chicken, steaks, etc...

I've made something similar but cut down the butter by 1/2 and used light sour cream. Just as good, maybe a bit better because not as greasy. You can make this in the crock pot too.
