My rig, listed below, is in need of a new shower faucet. The reason I wish to replace it is because there is hardly any leeway between scalding and cold. It is very difficult to get the temp set properly. Also, when doing the Navy shower thing, the water is cold for several seconds when switching the head back on.
I have not taken anything apart yet. There is a large access panel on this. Can I just go get a new faucet at the local Home Depot or Lowe's? Is this a special item? Will this fix my problem with the cold water after flipping the head back on?
There is no tub.
Thanks in advance for any information.

I'd take of the access panel and check to be sure the hookups are standard plumbing size.
If they are I see no reason a home shower unit would not work. I have standard home units in my kitchen and lavatory, have not replaced the shower one though.
Your brief cold water problem may not be the faucet, it may just be the warm water cooling before you turn it on again.

Don't know about yours but I just replaced mine. Took the old one apart just out of curiosity and found the line partially plugged on the hot water side. Probably could have just cleaned it out and saved a few bucks.
I didn't even think about a standard unit. Got mine at the RV supply. $24.00 for the best one they had.

One of the first things I did was replace my shower with a standard one from Homedepot for the same reasons you mention....solved the hot cold problem but not the Navy shower problem.

My Winnebago Adventurer has a Moen control valve. I followed advice posted on RV.net and checked with Moen, first on line, and then by phone. They sent a new stem and removal tool free. Replacement of the stem by someone with zero plumbing expertize, me, took 30 minutes. The shower is working fine now. I do not have an access panel, and a mirror is glued behind the shower wall. All work had to be accomplished from the front. Good luck, and happy trails.

the cold water for several seconds is because of the lack of an antiback flow device from what I can determine from previous posts in this forum.

Removing the flow restrictor from inside the shower head, in my case, increased the water flow to the point that the hot/cold regulator became operative and thereby provided a constant temperature. Look for a small plastic disc with a small hole in it, either in the head or junction of hose/head.
