Each province is different. In Ontario if you want to collect on the drug benefit for seniors you must use an Ontario doctor and an Ontario pharmacy. That probably means an Ontario family doctor. For emergency you can go just about anywhere. They will only pay for the equivalent cost of an Ontario doctor. That's why we use Snowbird insurance.

Also you have to be able to prove you have lived here in Ontario for at least 183 days each year. Keep those campground receipts.

All we've had for the past 22 years for an address is a post office box. There's a surprising number of rural Canadians who could say the same thing. Its on my drivers license, my hospitalization card, my passport - everything. When we went on the road a year ago nothing changed. The only time the box number is ever really an issue is when I buy something online and the shipper refuses to ship to a box number.

Use a family member or a trusted friend for an address. Change your licence and insurance and everything else to that address. Make sure you call all of the companies that you deal with to change your address. Pay Canada Post the $45 to forward your mail in the meantime for 6 months. Have your family member (or friend) vette your mail and send it to you when you are in one place for a while. I am lucky to have 3 great brothers and sisters in law and a large military group of very trusted friends. Doctors are'nt really a problem, if we have an issue, we just go to a walk in clinic. It's not that hard, you just have to get on with it. Good luck. PS remember that at Xmas time or out to dinner on you when you see them for their time.

"We use MailBoxes ETC. for our mail and they give you a street address. We use the street address for our Drivers Licence, vehicle registration, etc. They will forward your mail to you."
We call MailBoxes ETC. when we are stable for a time and have them forward the mail and they will tell what mail you have so you decide if you really need/want the mail or not, they will also accecpt any parcel and will hold all parcels/mail for your pick up until your contract runs out. We find the big thing is to get everything online it is much easier. The only items that we have not been able to recieve online is our actual insurance policies, but we do pay them online and recieve information via email. Oh yes some magazines we do receive via mail but they are not an ugent item to receive.

p.s we live in a rural area for years and having only a post office box address was a real pain we had items shipped to our work address when that was possible.

Don't know why a box number would cause a hassle. When we received mail by the box number we just wrote it as Box 107 - 300 Main Street. As there was no "main street" and no mail delivery except to mail boxes nothing got lost, everyone who wanted a physical address was satisfied even though "main street" didn't exist.

Couldn't get UPS deliveries but them's the breaks.....

We have been full timers for 2 yrs. and really enjoy it.
We use UPS,they give us a street address and box number.
Have forward our mail to all location in Canada and USA.
You decide how to ship and can be over nite or a week.
Works well for us.
Hope this helps.

So how do you handle voting Roy? What is your address for voting? How do you get enumerated? Is the UPS address good enough for Elections Canada?

All you need is a drivers licence ..... show up at the poll ...... bringing a piece of mail might also be advisable. Not all DRO's are well trained.

I guess you'd have to use the address of the UPS office as your physical location and vote in the poll for that area.

The following link is a good place to look around. It has information on how long you can be in the US and the health rules of your province.
It is a good organization to join, as it is working for people like us.

They are often out of date. Refer to the web page of your provincial health care plan for up to date information. Don't take a chance on information from a 3rd party with NO LIABILITY.....
