My wife and I (both mid 60's) are retiring at year end. Would like to pull something lite behind a v6 GMC Envoy. What are the better units to consider? Or, have considered a C series but are leaning to the other.
Any advice?

Your Envoy won't tow that much - probably has a tow limit somewhere around 5500-6000 lbs., and towing right up to your limit is no fun (those hills around Dubuque will have it struggling!) You'd be best off with a popup or smaller hybrid (trailer with tented bed ends) or a very small trailer - cramped quarters if you intend to spend much time in it. A C might be a better choice, if you get one large enough to tow the Envoy with it.

Part of the question is also the size of the budget. The least expensive would be the pop-up, followed by the hybrid and then the class C motorhome far above the other two. Are you thinking of something new or used?
The previous post is correct that you need to be very careful about the weight limits. Your Envoy has a GVWR(gross vehicle weight rating) and also a GCWR(gross combined weight rating) that are critical to safety of yourself and your passengers as well as to the reliability of the tow vehicle. Do not rely on the word of an RV sales person as to what you can tow. Most of them will tell you that you can safely tow anything that they believe the can sell to you.
Compare the weight of your Envoy and the extra weight of the gross weight for the RV to the GCWR for the Envoy to know what you can safely tow. A nice RV is not worth risking your life in towing it.

We recently purchased a Travel Star 18rb HTT, which we pull with our v6 Trailblazer. The total weight loaded is only aboout 4200# well below the limits of our/your TV(if it has the towing package). I was very nervous and polled many Forum readers to be extra confident that our TV would be ok, happy to report it has performed wonderfully.
Now...Michigan is not all that hilly, but there is some grade the farther north you go, and I have had good towing experiences so far.
Good luck in your search!

Check out www.trailmanor.com which your TV could pull any of their models which have a maximum weight of about 3500 lbs.
They set up quickly and provide hard sides all around.

Good to be thinking logically about what you can tow before going out and finding what you really want and find out it cannot be towed by your vehicle. Please be aware the dealers are notorious about telling you can tow more than you actually can.
Get all the specs on your Envoy in terms of towing capacity, engine size, differential ratio etc. That will be best place to start. Then read this website which goes into great detail about towing weights, lenght etc.
Based on the little information provided I think you will find you will need to stay pretty small in a fully enclosed TT. Hybrids will offer a little more room. Think you have some options but they will be more limited than you may realize.
Be safe and keep that margin of safety in place. Good luck in your quest. Welcome to the forum!!

Hi Kirk and everyone:
We are looking for information about Cass A RV's?
My husband and plan to start full time RV-ing soon. We had a Class A quite a few years ago, but we really still are learning.
We are starting to look for a used Class A in the 30K range. Do you have any tips on what to look for, makes and models, gas mileage, length (we are thinking about 30 ft) and anything else you might have ideas on.
Thank you so very much!
