My Winnebago Vectra has the shower and bathroom sink go to the gray ,and the kitchen sink goes to the black with the toilet.
Nice thing this way is one can do the dishes etc. in a dish pan in the sink. Helps to save on water. It is surprising how much water one uses if it just runs down the drain.

I would hate my shower going to the black tank. If for whatever the reason someone would take a shower before checking the tanks out, it could back up. For me the low point is the shower. My wife backed up the shower (grey tank) once, if it were the black tank...... Lets just say I am glad it was the grey tank.

My wife has done the same, which is why I agree completely.

Perhaps you guys wouldn't be overflowing your grey tank if something drained into the black.

You have a specially built Suncruiser built for someone that was handicapped. Regular 37Gs do not have the shower going to the black tank. The roll in shower was only used in handicap coaches.

I know that my bathroom sink gray goes to the black tank for the very reasons you state. However, I am not sure about the shower. I never had a problem with the black tank filling too fast. Of course, there are many variables as to how one camps and impacts the various holding and supply systems.See you out there,Robert

YUP and YUP!
My sink and shower dump in the black tank.

It seems every week I have read post after post of RV's with clogged, stinky, tp stuck everywhere and sensors not working for their black tank....... I experience 'none' of it.......because there is always plenty of water in my black tank to dissolve paper, leaves nothing to stick to sensors and it 'never ' has an odor.

It is 'not' a mistake of the manufacturer, actually it was designed to eliminate the problems others have from not having enough water in the holding tank for it to function properly.

And NO it does not back up into the shower if you overflow your black tank. Trust me I know it doesn't.

Can't figure this one out. If both your sink and your shower empty into your black tank, then why do they bother with a grey tank?? If mine was set up that way, I could get away with a 5 gallon grey tank.
I have by far the most shallow black tank and do not have any problems with the black tank clogging. Yes, I do use plenty of water, but that is just common sense. The reality is, that using more water per flush is much more practical solution as the toilet cleans better that way.

My kitchen sink and toilet empty into the black tank and the bathroom sink and shower empty into the gray tank. This puts the food particles from the kitchen into the black tank and some extra water. This is the best arrangement in my opinion.

-- Correct. I think the valve switch ability works well. That way sometimes I can route the shower water to the black tank, and other times to the gray. The shower routed on the black tank only was not working out well because you basically cannot dry camp for very long. Little to nothing in the gray tank, and the black tank is full everytime.
