How cool, I remember seeing the Airstream when watching the astronauts come in from space. It would have been cool to see the trailer in person. Next time we're in DC, we'll have to take a look.

At the end of each Apollo moon mission the astronauts were quarantined in three of these Airstreams. They were all connected together side by side and in a hanger on the recovery aircraft carrier. This was to insure they didn't bring anything bad back with them. I think they had to stay in there about a week or so. Some of us are old enough to remember the live shots on TV....

I watch NASA TV (anything to annoy the wife.....) and the motorhome that is used to ferry the astronauts out to the shuttle is also an Airstream.

Yup, I remember the flight crews waving from the front window. It's in pretty good shape for a 40 year old trailer. I feel old now. Guess I need to go camping. (soon)

AMEN...our government loves to spend!

Let’s keep something in mind here guys, this is a trailer that never moves and is kept inside a heated building. Not to mention the fact that NASA has gobs and gobs of money to keep it up! I would hope it looks as good as the day it was delivered to them.
