Shoot I can't spell it but you know them,, heard a scratching around the back door last night in the stick and brick place out here in the country.. Saw it tonight on the security camera.. yep,, opossum. GREAT ole big one. I will try the mothball thing first, and if that fails, put a ramp from the back step over to the empty 40 gal trash can with something in the bottom to attach him.. then just wait. and haul him off a long way from here.

Or you can do just what I did about an hour ago. Have had a skunk coming into my backyard. Looked out the kitchen window and saw him strolling up in the backyard. I slipped out the front door with my bow and now I'm working on hauling him off without getting stink all over me....

Never seen one up here. Guess the winters are too cold for Opossums on the Prairies. Sound like nasty animals.

With their bare tails and ears, possums aren't cut out for really cold climates. We do have them in the Boston area. I'm not sure why anybody would want to bother getting rid of one. They're too slow-moving and stupid to be really nasty, they don't seem to damage anything or wake us up in the night with bad smells. . . .

Shot a skunk that was attacking the dogs last year. Easiest way to get rid of the carcass.....let the wife worry about it.

Joanne, we've got tons in my area. Didn't start seeing them until about 5 years ago. Apparently they've adapted to this type of climate. Have them in the yard on occassion and never had a problem with them.

Thank goodness they don't shoot oposums where I used to live. I believe they may be protected there.
We had oposums in our yard and walk the fences every night. I liked them because they ate snails, however, I didn't much like it when our cats sat back and watched one come into our house one night.
I will never understand "shoot the critters", mentality though.

their bad I'm askered

opossums aren't fussy about what they eat -- they're real omnivores, consuming fruits, vegetables, nuts, flesh, eggs, insects, carrion, and just about anything that can be chewed and swallowed in the garbage can
