Hi,

There is a 220V line coming into the trailer to a 115 converter box. When an old vacuum cleaner was plugged in it burned up.

What would cause this? Thanks.

1969, 220v, are you sure? Maybe a 30 amp, 120v plug?

Is this unit new to you ? Did you just wire up the outlet it is plugged into?

having actually worked on all models of winnebagos fron 1967 till 1997, i can tell you that the unit you have was wired from the factory with the common 30 amp rv cord. 50 amp was not an option at that time.

My Dad wired 220 to the outside plug wrong the first time and burned up the vacuum cleaner. He rewired it and got 110 volt reading at the converter. Then nothing. I don't have a clue.

Why would there be a 110V converter if it took 110 to start with? He says it is real heavy wire.

It converts 120 volt to 12 volt , and it doesn't tolerate 220 volts any better than the vacuum cleaner.

Well we got 110V to the sockets inside. Anyone know where the 12v switch is?

It's right after the 110 to 12 v converter, which is fried from the 220 v you applied earlier.
