We are in se asia for several years headed back to the USA and contemplating the purchase of a class a motorhome. The two we are focusing on are Tiffen and Beaver diesels Cat engines and 40 to 45 feet with all the trimings. The huge flucuations in pricing due to the market conditions and crisis can really cause us concern. We plan to be full timers we are reasonably competent in systems and repairs.
We would like some opinions as to what the best units to consider? We have limited access to internet and information and know full timers are the best to question about our plan. Thanks for the opportunity to reach out.
Regards,
CDR Paul

are you buying now orin the future? Last 18 months have been really interesting and I"m sure the next 18 will be too. Pricing is likely to be all over the map due to the economy.

My advice would be not to be caught up in the engine manufacturer. They are essentially equal, Cat or Cummins. Decide on your maximum budget first, a floor plan or plans next and finally buy your last coach first. What that means is get the biggest coach you can afford now, rather than doing the trade in's every two years. In the long run you'll save yourself a boatload of money.

Buy a Tiffin product. Do the research it'll be obvious. Which one depends on your pocketbook depth. You will not go wrong with any. Look at dealers in your home base area, but don't discount dealers in other areas. No MH dealers in Singapore...

You sound like people who would appreciate quality and beautiful fit & finish of a fine motorhome.
I doubt you'd be happy with a second rate product.
Therefore, of the two - the Beaver motorhome is the one you want...

We looked at the Beaver Marquis....... Gorgeous units...... but out of my price range. I'll have to stick to our Revolution.

hi JH i too looked long at the marquis of beaver and even had an offer from a dealer who dropped the price from 720 thou to 512thou and it kind of makes you wonder what the buy price really is if a drop of over 200 clicks is that easy and some have proof of a 40% discount which brings the price to 437 and change and it appears that there is more room. I know people need to keep their jobs and companies need to make a living but what are we supposed to do when we see a chance to work a price. We really like the unit too. I hate debt so with some planning maybe we can get a deal.My papa told me you dont make money when you sell you make money when you buy so this situation is reversed. We are ready to take the plunge and enjoy it but carefull for sure. The Marquis is a beautiful example of American craftmanship.Tiffens Zepher also talks to me so we press on. Thanks for your comments regards Paul.

Hi Machaele Thanks for your comments i tried that web site but cant get it to open here as usual will try more at early times maybe lots of activity.Tiffen is a good company however the recent financial crisis has caused some layoffs and in a small Alabama town that can be disasterous(sp) just want to make sure they will be around when we may need them.We worked in Fort Lauderdale,Pompano Beach, and deerfield beach great area and lots of fun things to do.Thanks for the comments Paul
