If you can...get on the roof and check the voltage on the main coax INTO the dish. It has to be 24 volts for the dome to work. The power goes from the tuner and up the coax to the dish. The seconday coax only carries the satellite signal down to the secondary receiver.

If you have 24 volts on the main cable at the dish, your tuner and coax are working. If the dish won't move it might be a bad motor, board, or connection inside the dish.

Is your Dishnetwork receiver working properly? I had to run Check Switch over 10 times before it finally found all the satellites.

Good luck.

Oh yeah....don't get me started on Check Switches! Hours and hours spent on those little babies! With the receiver set on super and looking for the three birds, a check switch takes forever.

As I said, I would LOVE to have one of the KD white collar types or techs in the coach with me for a trip. Just wouldn;t want to have to feed them.

Yes we have a Kingdom in-motion system which works great. Have had it for two years, but we have DirecTV. Often when ours loses the sat. after we have parked under a tree for awhile, I have to unplug the power to the Kingdom to get it going. Just turning the panel on and off doesn't work.

1. There is NO 12 volt source. The 120 power supply supplies the 24 volt dc source.
2. YES, there can be compatability problems with certain DVR's by Dish and Direct. NOT KD 's problem.
3. DO NOT think that Direct or Dish tech help is correct for a RV Dome system. They both do not or have any knowledge of Dome systems and what they are capable of doing or NOT doing.
4. You DO have the KD set for Dish 1000a NOT 1000?
5, It is the DISH receivers capability in the check switch mode that determines how well the KD can function. If the Receiver does not have compatible Check switch software for a KD system, you MUST get a Dish receiver that is compatible.

This is WHAT KD recommends for your set up.

King Controls recommends using a Dish Network model VIP211 HDTV receiver for
automatic satellite switching.
Note: The SW64 switch is a receiver software configuration that is loaded into the receiver after running a check
switch test with the dish locked on and configured for Dish 1000 switching mode.
This is a one time procedure and will not need to be repeated after successful installation, unless the
check switch test is run again while connected to a home dish system, or if you travel to another area and
need to change the selected trio of satellites.

My point is, USE what KD says to use, If you still have a problem, then blame KD. But you are NOT using the recommended receiver and you have to bear the cause of your problems. Doug

Last, I just updated a KVH L2 (3 years old) with the current software and worked flawlessly (Dish 1000 with a DP 311 receiver). The customer called me a few days later upset because it would not switch Sats. He returned the RV and the FIRST thing I saw was the 622 DVR, NOT the DP311 that was used when I updated. That was his problem, he replaced the original receiver after he picked up the unit. Even KVH will not work in Check switch with the Dish DVR. Once we reinstalled the DP311 it worked correctly

I was told if I wanted to use tivo I had to stay away from the HD channels in my tracstar. it works great but no dome out there now can get all the birds in HD.If I wanted HD I had to get a straight receiver not a DVR and could not tape and watch different channels and if the back tv wanted a different station it would not work that way so we stayed away from HD. I love the inmotion part and would not be without it. I heard from tracstar that the domes have issues if you are using HD so they told us upfront use a stationary dish. I have had no problems with the two Tracstars I have had

My story sounds just like the OP's story.

I have the top end King Dome, and I have spent months working with their techs upgrading software, checking settings, and replacing tuners and dome parts, and I still have frequent problems where it gets stuck on "lock verify" and can't find a satellite.

And then add the Dish 612 dual tuner DVR into the mix, and it gets really frustrating. I have spent hours running check switch and it has never found all of the satellites - it just goes too fast, faster than the dome can switch.

I have already checked everything Doug and others have suggested in thread.

I have finally given up, and am using a portable ground mount Dish 500. I don't get all of the HD channels, which ticks me off, but I don't want to carry a second dish for 61.5. (129 is not an option here, so no Dish 1000 for me.)

Maybe next year I can switch to the new Eastern Arc birds and get my HD back.

The only suggestion of Doug's I didn't do is change receivers to a 211. (I tried a 722 and two 612s.) Having a DVR is more important to me than the dome. (I use an external hard drive to move shows from home DVRs to watch on the road, only Dish DVRs can do this.) If they had a single tuner DVR I would try it. But alas, there is no such option. So, I carry a dish.

I have a King Dome in motion and it is the cable wrap version. It has worked flawlessly until recently. I took the dome off and found lots of plastic filings, looked inside the dome and see where the dish has been scratching into the plastic, hence the filings. Blew them out and I put it back together.

The problem I have is the dome being a cable wraped version, there is a stop to reverse the dish to come around the other way and re-lock on the sat. I find when I go off the highway on an exit ramp and end up going in a circle, the dome loses the sat and can't refind it, even in an empty parking lot. I end up shutting down the system and turn it back on after a wait (say an hour) and it picks up the sat and works fine again, until the next off ramp.

Glad I bought an extended warranty on the dome. I have an appointment next Saturday to have it looked at.

Best Regards!

I have the KVH R6 unit with a dish 211 and a dish 311 (note 301
is NOT compatible)...and it worked OK...then went up north and it was killing and I could not get anything even in the park --there were some trees....so I was about to lose it when going south..reinitialized it and while running on the inverter turned off the carrier ac/heat pump standby and we got everything..all 3 sats without a problem...let's just hope it stays that way...note that 61.5 is limited state availability and once you go south of Pa they recommend satellite 129.

Very interesting post. I have a six year old stationary Kingdome that just quit and was ready to upgrade to the Kingdome in motion as recommended by Kingdome. Now I am not sure if this is the way to go or not. I will be following this post with great interest. There seems to be a lot of problems with the Kingdome in motion systems.
