Trying to figure out what the best temperature is for the home freezer.

This is the freezer in our fridge. Right now it is at 0 degrees F. Does it need to be that cold? thnxs

Yes, it does. In fact, that's the maximum recommended temperature.

I would consider 0 the minimum, err maximum if you keep the stuff in freezer for long time.
Getting Polish kielbasa from Chicago, we keep it in the freezer for over a year.

keep ours at 0 degrees as well.

Freezer should be 0 degrees.
Fresh food should be about 40 degrees.

Years ago I worked at McDonald's and their freezer setting, at least at that time was between -10 to zero F. My stand alone freezer at home is around -10F.

The home freezer may be different but when you have your RV refrigerator set at 40 degrees, the freezer section is at 5 degrees. I would set the home freezer the same.
