I have an 07 Winnebago Journey 36 footer. Recently, I noticed that my bathroom vent cap was cracked near the hinge. (I think it was Camping World service, but can't prove that now). Anyway, I noticed that they start to turn yellow and maybe it was just brittle from sitting the sun.
I'm obviously replacing the vent lid, but want to add MaxxAir covers. My main room vent (Fantastic) is in the center of the living area near the fridge. The one in the toilet area of the bathroom also has a fan but is much smaller.
I'm thinking of adding the Fan Mate (more expensive one with lovered fins) over the main vent and the cheaper standard version over the bathroom. I've heard that the standard ones don't work well with fans. Is this true?

We had installed this season in the same locations as yours the Maxx Air Fan/Mate Model 900. We love them. The vents have stayed open all summer and have been great. The fantastic fan in the kitchen seems to run quieter since the maxx air was installed. When travelling we don't have to run the AC unless it is extremely hot as the Fantastic fan with the Maxx Air does all that we need in the coach while travelling. I think they are worht the extra money and wouldn't not have them now.

whatever cover you get, I would want it to be one with the opening pointed down so it can be left open rain or shine.

According to Fantastic Vent (the maker of the Fantastic Fans) the small Max Air should not be used on their vents as it restricts the air flow. Also, when open the fan cover hits the Max Aire. Fantastic Vent says not to worry about it as the vent will stop and not cause any damage due to it's design.
On our 2000 DSDP we did use the large fan mate on the forward fan and the smaller on in the bath due to limited clearance for the skylight. Seemed to work fine.

We have two Maxxair Covers and the vent cover hits them when open about 3/4 of the way. IMHO there is not enough restriction of air flow to spend any more money for something better.

Same setup here, and they work great. No airflow problems here.

Exactly, of course I have manual covers, don't know about the motorized ones.
