We've done about 12 K miles this year, down south in the winter NE over the summer. We will head south the first of the year, hopefully the house will be sold by then as the market is still ok in our area.

52 nights this year but I must say this long weekend is the first in a long time that we didn't "automatically" book a MH trip. It's not the cost of gas - in our case Thanksgiving (Canadian is this weekend) means a ferry trip which adds another $300 to to the weekend. that and my DW has to work a rare sunday, front slide motor just lost a ground so I have to get that fixed and the weather doesn't promise to be stellar. Guess it isn't the economy but a bunch of things that killed this weekend. However it doesn't meant it's all over, we'll still get another 6 or so nights this year and probably another 60 next year . We are making changes to reduce our exposure tho - like I might sell the Jeep toad, minivan Daily Driver and buy something that will do both jobs. One less chassis to insure and maintain. No action yet but it's on my mind. and yes the new vehicle will be a few years old and used to save a few bucks.

We " sold" our house to our son and took off in August. We had a C, but when we got to Elhart, IN, we found what we believe to be a sweet deal for an A. We were gone 8 weeks and will be on the go again right after the holidays. We have grandkids in sports and other activities that we want to see at least some of. Just watch the amount of money you have to spend and have fun.

Just finished planning our trip to the south leaving right after Christmas......As we called to book sites from Key West to St. Augustine there didn't seem to be any more availability this year because of the economy.

We have been trying to get into a resort in Naples for 2 years and they are still sold out in January, Feb, & March! Did manage to get a cancellation for 5 days at blue water key in key west but couldn't get the last 2 days.

If this is any indicator, looks like the snowbirds and others are simply continuing the RV lifestyle with little change.

Try this place, between Naples and Fort Myers on the Imperial River. It's the best of both worlds, and you shouldn't have a problem getting a spot, even though the winter months are very popular here.

Planning to go out at least once per month in the next 6 months. With diesl down from a high of $5.09 in June, to around $3.45 (down .50 cents in 10 days)here in So. Cal. today my fill up costs have dropped from $900 to $540....I can go almost twice as far on the same money as I did in June.

Just got back from a week of camping/golfing in Utah--it was great. Intended to use the time to remove ourselves from all the negative and it worked so long as we kept the television off (we did) and the radio off (we did) and made sure those we golfed with kept their focus on the game (they did, except for a chance threesome of real estate types!)--it was all good.

Campground was empty of course, late season in the Uintas but coming back yesterday we saw plenty of early Snowbirds on I-15, a surprising number actually so I know that at least some RV'rs are going South this year. We won't, last year was simply too cold in Arizona for our recreational preferences so we will stay here in Idaho and read books--

After the Holidays, if I have anything left in my retirement funds, we might consider a run for the sun but right now, we have no plans to use the motorhome until next year.

If one thing doesn't get you, the other one does. In June I wouldn't pay $4.50 a gallon for fuel and now, I don't dare spend a bunch of money for what is, to us, basically recreation.

To answer your question, I am headed off to the feed and seed for some anti-freeze for the motorhome--there's a cold breeze blowing at the patio door!

Sitting in its garage with the water drained but not winterized yet. It seems during the sunny days we have projects going and on the rainy days we don't feel like sitting in the MH listening to the rain on the roof.

We just got ours ealiers this year and have used it at least 5 times and plan to use it during the winter. Like most folks, the price of gas and food have us shopping smarter and not borrowing as much, but we are still putting money aside to do what we like to do, including RVing!

We have basically used our RV typically as we normally do up north during the summer, trips to northern NY, NJ, NH/Maine. Mostly one/way day drives. Longest trip normally to New Brunswich,Canada about every two years, this year we drove one long day by car, and stayed with family on the beach, normally park Rv at beach.

Heading south for a couple of months after xmas, already have US dollars set aside, thank god with the Cdn dollar diving and the whole state of economy.

No certain what we will be able to afford next year. Time will till, hopefully it will return somewhat. God Bless. Edouard.
