Well, first off I hope the USB broadband device you received has a port on it that allows you to plug a say $48+- booster antenna into it. If not call Verizon immediately and get them to exchange the device you have for one with an antenna port. About the best going today is the "U727". For a router go with the Cradlepoint MBR1000 which costs about $239.00. Do not go with a CTR500 as some users are reporting issues with overheating.. The MBR 1000 is terrific by the way. Set-up is extremely easy for most anyone and if you buy from 3GStore they will help if you need assist. 3GStore is tops for pre-purchase info and post purchase tech support!

Alas, I know of no air-card router that uses a USB air card.. They all have cardbuss slots.. This is not to say someone has not just come out with one (Which logically they should)
My only recommendation is google "Air card routers" without quotes should do it
Cradlepoint gets good reviews from folks I've seen who have 'em Linksys does not do bad either.

Huh .......
All the new Cradlepoint routers do in fact have USB connectivity and they have for some time now. Some now only have USB connectivity and NO card slot.

It seems as though anything cardslot, being an aircard or anything else now is getting to be rarer due to the rise of USB 2.0.
USB 2.0 can transfer data faster than cardslot (does not matter with an aircard, you will never find a tower that fast), and the form factor is so much more convenient.
Many of today's computer are coming without any type of cardslot ala Macbook, Dell MINI, Asus EEE, etc. Every modern computer I have ever seen has a usb port.
The next aircard I buy will be USB. I have a Sierra Wireless PCMCIA 875 Aircard now with ATT. Got speeds of 2700 Down and 500 Up last night in Lubbock, Tx on 3g.

Regarding printer sharing. You can either use a wireless printer or get a wireless print server.
Just make sure the print server supports the printer if you go that way. All-in-one printers are notorious for not being supported.
Also make sure the aircard you have is supported by the router you choose.

Off topic, so I'll be brief (follow up via private message).
1) coverage, I often camp where there is no cell service
2) some technical advantages (VPN, public IP, VOIP)
3) it looks cool
(by the way, speed is NOT an advantage of satellite over WiFi or Mobile Broadband unless you spend big bucks)

Gotta get a router, my wife still uses WiFi, as it is available free in Thousand Trails campgrounds. But feel it would be nicer for her not to have to go to the lodge to use it. Though she says she likes to get out, she might change her mind with a router.
We travel an average of 12,000 miles a year, with Verizon, Wilson antenna & amplifier. Since we got it, would n not be without it. In three years only found but one place where we could not get Verizon service. That was in Yosemite Lakes campground 6 miles out of Yosemite. Mountains close all around the campground and no towers. Could not even get cell service from the nearest town on the road in. Good service in Yosemite itself.
We did find some locations where we did not get broadband last year. But, since we got the new Verizon in August card, we get broadband even when roaming. With National plan no charge on roaming. We did get a cardslot Card from Verizon. I like it better than USB, most inside the Laptop instead of hanging off the outside. Cant imagine connecting an antenna cable to a USB card, seem to tenuous a connection to me.

Thanks everyone !! I have some stuff for my list for Santa Claus. Funny how we started with one desk top then two - his and hers. One laptop, now two. One aircard and soon to be one router...
I did not think I would the aircard much on the road but I do - we both do .. enough to add an inverter to the truck. Thanks again..

Oh PS - Sorry ...
You all just share the connection? you don't go the route of a domain with groups - correct? The router can be locked down so it does not broadcast its SID? I am guessing you all have virus protection and a firewall, independant of the service provider? Does anyone have a preferance? I am running McAfee on one, AVG/Zone Alarm on another and Trend on another. (Don't get too impressed, McAfee & Trend came with the machines. AVG & Zone Alarm because I have not gotten motivated to change it)
