Fold up the bed and lay a nice air matress or the kind of pads/mats teneters sometimes use on the floor.

Wife could not understand when we had 3 in the rig why I'd let the girls have the bed and sleep on a Work Pad I got at Auto Zone lying on the floor.

My back loves a nice FIRM matress, and short of concrete it don't get much firmer than that pad on the floor.

Thanks for all the help. I should have specified (and some of you guessed it) that this is indeed a fold out couch bed which I'm referring to, so some of the ideas, i.e. plywood, wouldn't work, but it also seems like the concensus is to just put a foam pad or something on top the bed, once I fold it out.

We put an egg crate on it last weekend, but it didn't help much. Guess I need to measure it first. I found a few replacement mattresses online around $3-400, but the memory foam toppers seems to be less than $200.

Will the memory foam tops and others fold up with the bed? I don't want to take up any more storage space than I have to.

Thanks!!

Get a Queen-short Sleep Number Mattress from Select Comfort. If you can get it from the factory outlet, you can get one relatively inexpensively. They're light and they're adjustable.

Have fun!

Buy a high quality air bed and air pump and put it on top of the existing bed. We do and it is cheap and effective.

My dad and I bought a 2000 Fleetwood Pace Arrow 37s. My mom and dad get the bedroom and my wife and I use the fold out couch. Problem is the mattress is pretty worn out - I can feel every spring!

So, where is a good online store that sells not only good replacements, but direct replacements?

Thanks everyone!

I'm surprised so many people have suggested the air mattress idea. We have one that is used when other people stay with us, and often I'm the one who sleeps on it. I don't think they are very comfortable, and I'd imagine that you'd be sleeping about 5 feet from the ground and 4 inches from the roof?!

This is your answer....Yes the foam memory topper will fold up in the bed but the air mattress is better.....My son now has the memory topper on his bed.
