So, the new North Trail has one vent without a fan (a real cheap vent) over the DW's and my bed, and a little fan in the bathroom. The bathroom fan is way to noisy to use to vent the trailer during the night like we used to with the Fantastic fan we had in our last trailer, and it barely moves any air, too.
What would you recommend we replace the existing vent opening with, and what fan should we replace the bathroom fan with? I see a bunch of options out there, and although I am not going to spend $400 for remote controlled fans, I'd like to have adjustable speed fans and fans that are quiet. The dealer pressed me to have them install the fans while the trailer is under warranty so the warranty and leaks would be covered if they messed up. They are telling me that if I screw up I own it. Tha's fine. In any event, I will install Max Aire covers over both. The Max Aire combo fan/covers don't look like they are as good as a true fan with a vent cover. In any regard, all opinions are appreciated.

I wouldn't use anything but fantastic fans myself...
there is no better for service...
I am not saying others aren't good or even better, but fantastic has done right by me and leaves me no reason to look at another...

I would strongly recommend the MaxAire type where the fan motor/blade is mounted at the rear of the cover and pointed down. can run in the rain, noise is moved out and down, needs no fancy auto close feature that is frequently replaced under warranty by the fantastic fan folks. KISS is my motto. seems sort of silly to me to not buy the all in one package to begin with. and mount it to the aluminum framework of the existing vent with the "L" brackets, do not drill into your roof.

What JJ said !!
I have 2 Fan-Tastic Create-A-Breeze units in mine... One in the living room, one in the bathroom... They do an exellent job and you just don't find customer service like you do with Fan-Tastic - they are second to none

How are the Fantastic Model 8000's? They're a lot cheaper than the other models (around $80) and don't have auto close, thermostats, or reversible motors. All I want is an inexpensive, quiet, powerful fan to get some of the heat out of the kitchen area. Has anybody had any experience with this model?

I would highly recommend the Maxx Air "Turbo Max" fan.
We had one in our previous trailer and in our present trailer we have two Fantastic Fans with the "Fan Mate" covers. We prefer the Turbo Max. It is quieter, just as powerful as the Fantastic, and can be used 24/7 no matter what the weather.
If you decide to go with the Fantastic Fan, get the Fan Mate 800 cover for it. This will allow you to leave the vent open and use the fan when it is raining.

Maxx-Air Turbo Maxx is nice but kind of pricy compared to the Fan-Tastic... I remember Barney's Turbo-Maxx and it was quiet - "ya pays your money and takes your choice"
If you check the specs for both, you'll see that the Turbo-Maxx moves a bit more air than the Fan-Tastic but that is at the cost of additional current draw... Turbo-Maxx does not give noise specs for it's fans but I'll attest to the fact that they are a bit quieter...

I like the Maxxair fan's with their low profile height, quiet reversible fan, built in rain hood and ease of use.
Here is the link:
Maxxair Low Profile Vent Fan
The lowest price was RVWholesalers but other's have come along and lowered the price so do your homework. These units are great and not having to add on a cover is great, it's built in.

I decided to replace our noisy little bathroom fan a couple of months ago. After researching the available products, I decided that the best fan for our needs was the Maxxair Turbo-Max as mentioned by BarneyS above. Here are the reasons:
1. The Turbo-Max installs right over the existing vent. No need to go through the hassle of removing the original vent, drilling new holes in the roof, caulking, etc.
2. The design of the Turbo-Max keeps the rain out without the need for a rain sensor to automatically close the vent. The 3-speed, thermostat controlled Turbo-Max is less expensive than a Fantastic Fan with 3-speeds, thermostat and a rain sensor. Without a rain sensor, the Turbo-Max has fewer parts/controls to fail.
3. Because there is no concern about rain getting in, the vent fan can continue running when it is raining. Also, I like to leave the roof vents open to allow air circulation when the MH is in storage between trips.
We have found the Turbo-Max to be extremely quiet on low speed. It is inaudible outside the bathroom, even with the door wide open.
