This will be our first trip down there and would appreciate your suggestions on places to stay and any other thoughts you might have that would help us. Have 40' DP. Thinking about Nov/Dec. Thanks much! Magred

Playa Bonita is nice. Playa Del Oro is ok. We stay at The Reef. We have a 40 ft dp. We fit in the spaces easily with room to spare. Lots of room to manuever. Full hook ups , some with 50 amp service. You can still get a front beach front and there is a place to dry camp if you want for 5 bucks a night. The Reef is a little farther out. (about 3 miles from the center of town) Laundry and showers along with a 4 Star restaurant in the park. There is a web site for The Reef and Playa Bonita. Not sure about Del Oro.

The Reef. It is the farthest from town, but the nicest.

Oro is good for folks that want to be in town, not my cup of tea but there are coffee shops & bars in the vicinity. Free internet.
Bonita is just West of hotel Plaza Las Glorias, fairly close to town with a resturant and big happy hour deck by the beach and free internet. Very popular so it gets crowded. Big rigs park there but the spaces are small compared to the Reef.
Reef is farther from town but the road to it is paved now so it's only 5-10 minutes farther than Bonita. Big spaces, lots of ATV's in & out of the park. Reef charges for internet. Dry camping on the beach is available.
Overall I prefer Bonita but I don't go to Puerto Penasco on busy weekends or any busy season. I would go to the Reef during those times.

We are going to Puerto Penasco spring break 09 in a pop up tent camper. Based on comments on these boards, I am leaning towards the Reef, with Bonito a close second. Since we have no shower or toilets, the facilities are a big deal for us. Can anyone let us know a little more detail about the facilities? Thanks!

jkhomes1, we've only stayed at the Reef, sometimes on the dry camp side for $5.
BTW, if you stay at the Reef, they now offer FREE WiFi
We love it there. The dry camp is not supervised by security guards, just cops when it gets too crowded, but it's a free for all and it gets pretty wild.
The park side, the Reef (supposedly the Reef and the dry camp area are NOT related ), is pretty well secured and they are always on you if they see you speeding, no utv's/atv's after 8 or 9 pm, can't remember correctly. We kinda didn't like that because our UTV was our only form of transportation, but understood well why the rule was imposed.
I've never used their facilities, but my husband and other family members have and they say it's nice and clean, but it does get crowded on busy weekends. They also offer facilities if you're on the drycamp area. We were there during this year's spring break and the weather was nice, we drycamped because the a/c wasn't needed. Unfortunately our beautiful space in front of the beach, that we picked early in the morning, turned out to be a nightmare, w/ our young girls. We should've known better, after all it was spring break.
