Wow! This is even breaking my most recent (and, I admit, wild) prediction of $2.70 a gallon by late this fall/early winter, I'm happy to say.

87 octane gasoline is now at the mid $2.70 range throughout Oklahoma and in parts of Kansas and other states.

Does this mean that the Enron and London Loopholes bubble has burst, along with index speculation ? (it's too long to go into the complex history of oil commodities deregulation in the US in this Forum). How many speculators have been burned to a crisp going long? Any lessons learned here?

My new revised prediction for West Texas Intermediate and the Middle-East stuff is, are you sitting?, $50 bbl US.

Retail gasoline by January: $$2.25 a US gallon 87 octane.

Have a great day...

Silver-

*Note: on our side of the fence, Quebec retail gasoline really hasn't gone down at all! We're still paying an incredible ~~$1.22 a liter here (or, a whopping $4.31 an imperial gallon, imagine that!

It's still $3.89 here in Madison, AL; I saw one diesel price yesterday of $4.59.

Yep, we're getting ripped off.

We saw regular unleaded 3.29 coming into SC on Monday. We are looking forward to these lower prices. The highest we paid was almost $6/gal in Canada this Summer.

On the road in KS, saw gas at $2.79 and diesel at $3.74. Gas going down fast but diesel is dragging along at a slow rate. Wish it was the other way.

By comparison the Peterborough area is down too.

Silver we are at $1.03 from $1.40 a liter, how is yours?

To compare, (1.03 X 3.94) / .92 or $4.40 US a US gal.!!!!! Diesel is still at $1.22 a liter.

Oh, the great news is that the new administration (regardless of who gets in) will be doing the following:

..."Under pressure, the CFTC is closing the London loophole. Early in the next administration, Congress must slam shut the Enron and swaps loopholes. Index speculation should be curtailed by making such strategies illegal for regulated pension funds and by imposing limits for all traders on how much they can buy or sell. Investment banks using credit default swaps to enter the commodities markets should be regulated to the standards that apply to speculators, not as if they were heating-oil vendors hedging against a warm winter. Investigations now under way at the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the Department of Justice should be intensified, and criminal manipulation of the markets, if detected, should be punished." (site: Galbraith, 10/08)

Have a very great day!

Cheers,
