Biodiesel plants do make a profit but it depends on your feedstock. We have a local plant that makes 10,000 gallons a day and they are expanding it to 20,000. The way they do it is have a exclusive deal with a waste oil collector. Not only do they get all the oil they need, the collector takes payment in fuel so the cash flow is low. I sold my last 500 gallons today that I had in reserve and I plan to go into personal use only mode plus a few friends for the winter. I really would dislike having to go back to diesel, my truck runs so much better on biodiesel.

Just curious:

Where I worked we had engine test labs. E-85 had 30% less energy per gallon than regular gasoline.

Do you know how much energy that your biodiesel has compared to dinodiesel? Can I run it in my Duramax?

Thanks

It's still $3.89 here in Madison, AL; I saw one diesel price yesterday of $4.59.

Yep, we're getting ripped off.

That is almost the same as Anchorage.

If you speak of gas dropping like a lead ballon I believe you confused. Its the dow average that closed under 8600 today and GM's lost 31 percent of its stock value. We are now in the second worst depression in the last hundred years. Just read info,,,,the aveage retirement fund is now worth half what it was a year ago...MINE is slighly less than half.....and O buy the way...gas is still 3.50 with diesel 3.89 here. And my bank went under...........gas is gonna get cheaper....and people won't be able to buy it.

I saw that an investigation is being started on gouging on the distributors and stations that could actually turn out to be something. I would think that at this price that the pumps should be showing more that they are by now. It doesn't take any time to rise but falls like a feather. I do hope someone gets stuck with a penalty this time in order to tighten up the enforcement next time.
But who am I?

In Canada, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI have regulated gas prices.
Our prices are adjusted once a week, depending on the markets.

I wonder if the next generations will not need so much oil. Maybe they will
get their energy from the sun, wind and water. Imagine, with all the education
available and all the wonderful minds out there, we're still so dependent on
oil.

I have read that there is a power drop in bd, some say as much as 10%. I have no indication of that but can't compair to diesel since I haven't used diesel in the last 35,000 miles. Bd provides very good lubrication, something I like since I have a injection pump that can be problematic. I personally know of three Duramax trucks running B100. You would be limited to commercial produced bd and to tell the truth I have seen shoddy stuff for sale.

Prices in our region dropped drastically yesterday: from $1.19 a liter to $1.12! Wow...

I'll stick by my earlier prediction of $50 a bbl by end of December (whatever that translates to in retail gasoline).

....all bets are off after this global financial disaster ( my sources tell me at least 12-months of volatility); however, I'll bet that a bbl oil will be $130 US by mid 2010 once again...
