Windows is wanting to update to XP service pack 3, it has me a little worried because it says to back up everything before the install.

I remember reading a while back where people were having problems with a windows update but I don't remember exactly what it was.

Just wanted to run it past you guys before I do the update.

Thanks very much!

Roy

We have a Toshiba Satillite laptop, after SP3 we now have a lot of problems with dropping the connection to our wireless network. No problems before SP3, and our gateway does not have wireless connectivity problems.

I updated several weeks ago. No issues that I am aware of.

I'm a Senior IT manager for a global manufacturing company. I have rolled it out to a few of my clients and have had connectivity issues on some of them mainly where they can not connect to our corporate VPN or our secure wireless network. For the time being, I've got SP3 blocked from installing.

At home, I've installed it on my 2 laptops and 1 desktop and have no issues at all. Go figure.

No problems here - been on it about 3 weeks on 3 machines - although I did set a System Restore point on each one before doing the upgrade. I use a VPN all the time with no issues. I would say go ahead and do the install

On my home desktop, it screwed up my HP printer drivers and made my memory card reader flaky, but the laptop ate it up with no probs. We haven't started deploying it at work yet.

I have a Toshiba Satellite running XP Home and have had no issues, installed it when it first became available. I also have it on my desktop that runs XP Pro and connects to a VPN for eight hours every day while I am working, no problems there either.

There have been some difficulties upgrading from the net. I downloaded the application file and have installed it on over a dozen computers without a hitch.
