Unfortunately, a recent post about my last trip to Cherry Creek State Park had some of your replies deleted and the post eventually closed.

Apparently, there were a misunderstanding about photos of my dog off leash and swimming. I never got the chance to explain and reply to the good info about Co State Park leash laws.

I am not a scofflaw. I am a Colorado LEO and personally know a lot of the rangers in the parks and work closely with them. I am aware of the rules regulations and possible penaltys reegarding pets in State Parks. I had permission from a ranger to have my dog off leash for a short time and was directed to a particular beach, NOT the swim beach, to have my dog swim.

Thanks for the rant and letting me explain.

I didnt read or see your first post....but to think that some people cant get enough of themselves.....some have to complain about anything and everything even if it doesnt concern them in the least bit. IMHO

I am not sure why it matters if the dog was on a leash or not so long as you are playing with it away from the road and other people.

Now if the dog is running down the road and through other's campsites loose, then yes, he needs to be leashed.

Come to think of it, this could be applied to children too.

Guess I missed your post. I now see your post was over in the campground section, guess that's why I missed it. Sorry you were made to feel you were doing something wrong when you weren't. Blantant rule breaking is a completely different thing than having permission for a bit of freedom.

I think most of us around here are very responsible pet owners but unfortunately it doesn't stop some people from thinking they need to jump on any chance for a putdown. Just keep in mind those people must live in a sad world, of their own making, of course.

I missed it too! And I didn't delete or close it. I too am guilty sometimes. Our goldens have always enjoyed running and swimming sometimes off leash but NEVER when others are around.

When I saw your pictures the post was new but I knew someone would say something about a loose dog in a park. I have asked Rangers if I can let my Golden run and swim, the answer has always been yes as long as I can control him and there are not many people around.
