Hi there all,

DW and I are planning to go full timing in very short order as soon as DD gets her self established in her own place. We just got our Electric bill for September and nearly fell over, as we frequently do this time of year. So, for those that live in the warmer climate states such as Texas, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona and California; what are your utility expenses for this last month. This is a sample of what we are trying to get our hands around, and infact our true expenses for the month of September.

Electric: $348
Cable TV: $68
Telephone $39
Internet $40
Garbage $39
Water $0 (we're on well water so the electric pays for that)

Please also indicate if you have solar panels and their wattage, if you use your washer/drier if you have one on board and if you have dual pane windows.

Just for your info, for our 3 bedroom 1300 square foot stick and brick, we are paying $1250 a month.

We realize there are a lot of other costs that swing one way or another when you switch from a stick and brick to full timing, but for now, this is what we are trying to get our hand around.

Thanks everyone for the help! Happy camping! - Eric -

We rarely pay electric separately as it is usually just part of the daily/weekly fee. The few times we have had to pay, it runs around $1.00 to $1.50 per day depending upon the weather and rate being charge. No we don't have solar panels up - but then we don't boondock unless at a rally for 3-4 days and then use the genny to recharge the battery bank.

We spent $29 to fill the propane tank last January. Will probably fill again in a couple of weeks since it is a little cooler. Usually fill about 3 times from October to Jan-February and then not again until the falling October.

Garbage is just included in your nightly/weekly/monthly fee.

TV - depends upon whether you go with satellite or not. Can be anywhere from $0 to several hundred if you do a lot of pay movies.

Telephone - depends upon what types of cell service you want and how many phones.

Internet - we have a Verizon aircard. $60/month for unlimited usage.

Here is my montly cost.

Elec .... I have NEVER been billed over 105.00 per month and that was in the heat of summer in NTex in 105 weather.
Propane.... I fill my two 30 lbers just about every 5 months
telephone ....is with AT&T and it cost me 39.95 a month for 400 minutes
tv ......... I use dish for 49.95 a month
internet ..... AOL 9.95 amonth and I dont even need it.

I do not use solar power, have a generator if I need it, ran it last 2 years ago.

I have a stackable washer and dryer....but I try to go clothing optional when I can (thats a joke folks)

When I look at what I posted, I often wonder where my money goes. Oh, these are for my 3500Montana, not the camper.

For the past 5 months, I have been at my fall property and will be leaving in dec for my winter hiatus in the valley, where I will pay 400.00 plus elec. but I get free cable (whoopie).

With dual panes, no solar, w/d used daily. RVP rates vary greatly and now we're paying $360 all inclusive. Next stop will be $895 all inclusive. Last Winter was $475 + elec then in Spring was $350 + elec.

In the coldest part of winter, we refilled one 40# Propane tank every 2 weeks, but usually only once a month. For summer, we filled one of our bottles in early July and still haven't had to refill.

Electric: highest ever charged $186 in NC. 2008 $174 in VA, both winter.
Normally runs less than $75.
Cable TV: $0, at some RVP's it's free
Cell: $107
Internet: $60 + tax
Garbage: $0, just walk it to dumpster
Water: $0

Wow, I am an electricity miser.

I have single pane windows, but only have to heat and cool 20 ft. Don't have a W/D and DO NOT USE ELECTRIC HEAT. Propane is way more cost efficient in my experience.

Average Electric Bill for 2008 has been 19 Dollars a Month.

Average Propane Usage is less than 1 20# tank per month. (more tanks filled in the winter, hardly any during the summer) So about 8-9 dollars a month averaged out for propane.

When I am at the trailer I usually have an LCD TV, Satellite Reciever, and laptop computer going.

I have actually had an environmentalist tell me that I was wasteful hauling my trailer all over the country. Hmmmm.

Electric: (When I have to pay it) Summer <$6-9/month. Winter $20-35 depending on the weather and use of a small supplimentary electric heater. I'm in the process of converting everything I can to 12VDC (forget that unrealistic inconvinent 120VAC nonsense) and adding solar panels so those numbers will drop a bit.

TV: $zero - don't have one, don't want one, can't give me one.

Cellphone/InternetAircard: $50/month (I'm mooching off my sister's phone service accounts by adding family plan lines and paying her instead of doing it independently - it's cheaper this way and we're happy with the arrangement)

Garbage: $zero - dumpster at the RV park or where I overnight.

Water: $zero - I load it when I dump. 50 gallons maximum every 9-16 days.

Dump: $zero - (included when staying somewhere overnight)

Propane: Summer/warm months, don't really know but it's minimal even while boondocking. Winter is planned for $100/month though realistically it's more like $70/month.

Fuel: Totally dependent on how much I travel. Winterover is usually under $20 for 5 months. The rest of the year depends on what the bank account can handle.

RV park space rental is the #1 irritating pain in the tailpipes to the tune of $400-600/month. I'll cut that down next year by boondocking every chance I get.

Yea. I'd like to see those individuals live on <100 gallons of water a month AND under $300 a year for electricity AND 500lbs of propane a year... That is assuming I'm very wasteful at the time.

As far as electricity goes, a lot depends on the cost per kilowatt hour. We have seen numbers ranging from 16 cents per KWH to 22 cents per KWH.
Since we tend to stay at least a month in one place to get the much cheaper monthly rate, we see site rental cost plus electricity all the time.

We rarely use the air conditioners and usually use about 250 KWH per month.
That yields a monthly bill of from $40 to $55.

For a RV site we pay from $150 per month to $300 per month. The $300 per month is high for us and we will only stay in that RV park for one month (next March) while we visit some friends.

Electric = 150-275 depending on time of year we pay .15 cents KWH at our seasonal place

Satelite TV = $160 includes costs for all the pay stations and Sunday Ticket over a year and 2 DVRs HD all the goodies etc.

Telephone = none, cell phone is paid through my company

Internet - We dont' use the CG wifi we have our own dedicated line $25 month

Garbage - incl

Water- Incl

Propane - we heat with hydrohot, super efficient for the 5 days a year its needed in SE FL. Use next to no propane I'd guess a tank would last 2 years or so. We also use diesel for the heat as well its cheaper than the two electric burners.

We use our W/D regularly. At least a load every other day and a load of whites once a week.

RV site runs around 700-900 per month depending on season or off season. We travel most of the summer / fall stay put in our home base in winter and venture out from there when we feel the need in the winter.

Electric runs $100-$200 depending on the temprature - but we also have an oxygen machine that runs 12-16 hours a day.
Washer/Dryer - 240v dryer which is used 3 times a week average.
We use the electric to heat the hyrohot 90% of the time, only turn on the diesel when it's below 50 degrees out.
Same with heating the coach in winter - use the heat strips in the a/c unless it's really cold.
RV space is $350/mo on a yearly rate. There are tax advantages to keeping a permanent space when we're gone for business during the spring/summer.
Cell phone/Internet are paid by my business.
Water/Garbage, etc are included in site rent.
We only pay electric during the winter - the 6 months we travel it's included in the site rental which averages about $25/day.
We also have dual pane windows
