Electric can vary from state to state. In CA its about the highest Ive seen anywhere, in AZ it is at less than half the cost in CA. Personally I hate the sound of an a/c, so if we run it at all, its no more than 1-2 hours a day. Most of the year we live in Thousand Trails and Resorts of Distinction, where there is no separate charge for electric or WiFi, etc.
On the road, we run the generator only enough to keep the house batteries charged. That takes about 15 minutes, I'm told it would use 1/2 a gallon of gas per hour.

Thank you so much everyone for your input. I forgot about Propane. In our stick and brick, we spend about $170 a month for the drier, waterheater and heat.
Please keep those comments coming in folks! Happy camping! - Eric-

May I suggest that you check out the RV-Dreams Website. Howard and Linda went FT a few years ago, and they have posted their yearly budgets and yearly expenses. They also have a daily blog which is very interesting.
The purpose behind the RV-Dreams website is to help people who are thinking about going full-time.
Good luck.

Electric: $348 About the only time you'll pay for your own electricity is when you're staying for a month or more. This summer, we paid $46 for electricity for a month in Sutherlin, Oregon. Right now, we're at an RV park in Quartzsite and we've run our A/C almost every day, so I know we'll pay more than the $46 we did in Oregon, but I'm sure it won't come anywhere close to $348!!!
Cable TV: $68 We pay DirecTV around $67 per month...this includes 8 channels of DNS plus one national feed of PBS.
Telephone $39 We have a Net10 pay-as-you-go phone that costs us around $15 per month.
Internet $40 We have a Sprint air card that we pay around $65 per month for.
Garbage $39 Free.
Water $0 The ONLY time we've paid for water is if we have to go someplace to fill the fresh water tank up (and, even then, I think we've only had to pay one time for water...we've never stayed at an RV park that charged for water).
Please also indicate if you have solar panels and their wattage, if you use your washer/drier if you have one on board and if you have dual pane windows. 4 100-watt panels. We do have a washer & dryer (which we ONLY use when at a full hookup RV park). We have dual pane windows.

Electric: $348
I only stay at parks where electric is included with the rent, right now I'm paying $440 per month, that is suppose to go up to $490 starting in November.
Electric $0
Cable TV: $68
Direct TV cost me around $58 per month
Telephone $39
My cell phone is also $39 per month
Internet $40
Sometimes I use the cell phone as an EVDO modem, cost me $60 per month (tacked onto the phone bill). Right now I have the EVDO turned off and am using WiFi from various sources.
Total cost $0
Garbage $39
They pick up trash out front on Tuesdays and Fridays, and I can take it to the dumpster myself if I want it done sooner.
Total cost $0
Water $0
Included with the rent...
Total cost $0
Note-1: I have stayed at parks without sewer hook-up, some of them include twice weekly Honey Wagon service, some do it Ad Hoc and charge $3-5 per visit. Right now my sewer is included.
Note-2: Don't forget insurance, it's a monthly or bi-annual cost you can't escape from. Currently I pay around $50 per month for vehicle insurance. Since I work for a living my health & dental are covered by the company.

Because we're both still working and I do lots of paid work travel, we've been in the same park for over a year. Electric bounces between $85 and $140, but my wife a big fan of the RV washer dryer. Satelite is $350 per year. Internet $59 per month. Propane heating is the more efficient and less expensive for us,

We have been FTing for 6 weeks. Our old Seattle house ran $4400 a year for gas/electric/water/sewer/trash (about $12 per day or $360 a month).
We didn't have cable TV. Cable internet was $52. Phone $15. Cell $44. Now, on the road, Blackberry modem internet and two-phone plan runs $93 a month. Utilities are included in the campsite cost which averages $20 a night so far.
I like to think we still pay $12 for utilities and camping costs $8 a night($240 a month --- such a deal!!).

Hi there Everyone, Well, we are hoping to start full timing staring around the first of the year. The two campgrounds we are considering will include water, electric, cable and wifi, so we will be in good shape. Please keep those cards and letters coming in though. Thanks to everyone who have posted so far.
Happy Camping! - Eric -
