Two weeks ago on my departure saftey check I found mine had worn in two in the loop that attaches to the frame. At my next stop I found a local hardware store that had cable ( a fraction bigger than orginal) and cable clamps. $3 and 15 minutes later I was good to go. I'm sure a Home Depot or Lowes would have had the same material or as in my case a local hardware store in Byron NY.

Is there a make/model on the pin box to look for? Or would it be easier to just take the pin with you when buying another one?

I can't see a string of bandits focused on stealing break away cables, but in case it were to break or get lost, it would never hurt to have an extra!

We had a faulty breakaway switch last year.

Hooked up to bring the TT home and it wouldn't budge.

No spare cable, no spare switch, Sunday afternoon and the trailer dealer was closed, and we were about 80 miles from a walmart OR a dealer anyways.

I took out my handy dandy DYKES and clipped BOTH wires coming out of the switch.
Then wrapped them with electrical tape and zip tied up out of the way.

Less than 5 minutes.
The trailer was ready to roll and problem/emergency was over.

Picked up another $10 switch the following week.
Installed myself in 15 min at home.

Think about the SIMPLE stuff folks.
If there's a problem, it CAN be worked around.
