$70,000 would really be a lot to pay for a 5th wheel, new or used. That's pretty top of the line. Unless you are set on geting the bigest and most up scale models, you can find a lot of new ones in the $20-30,000 range and nice used ones in the $15-25,000 range. I'm talking average sized ones of 27-30 ft. range and just a few years old with all the ammenities. But whatever you find, look up the "book value" on line by going to NADA values and go to the RV part and use that as a starting point. Then, considering today's markets, try offering them a lot less than the book value. So,let's say it is listed for, $21,000 with a book value near there, offer them $15,500 and you may be the new owner.

These things aren't flying off the lots right now. Offer $30,000 see how it plays out. That's somewhere in the neighborhood of what they paid for it. If they say no, tell them take a day or two and make a counter offer. I'll bet they won't let you off the lot without a substantial
reduction in price.

With fuel prices dropping the buyers market might be coming to an end. With the economy the way it is who knows.

I think it is still a buyer's market. I've made 2 deals in the last year and both were considerably in my favor. The key is to look at similiar models in the area and online. Bring info to backup your bid (researched NADA, other models within driving distance, etc)and be willing to walk away from it. I never accept their first offer even after I insist on dealing with the owner or Sales manager. They need to sell that rig more than you need to buy it. Always remember that.

Why do people worry so much about what everyone else is paying. Make a deal that you are comfortable with and you have made a good deal.

Makes a big difference if you have the cash in hand. And are ready to buy.
A dealer will be more motivated, if you do not need to get financing. Many deals are written, only to have them fall apart, because the buyer cannot get financing. You go in there with cash in hand, and you have the best leverage to walk out with a great deal. Don't take their first come back. Hold to your lowball price.

A 2-3 year old top of the line fiver that new was probally 80.000 MSRP, I would expect to sell for 45-55 thou. For 70Gs, you would be upside down for a long time.

In my opinion, way too much for a used rig. Go with low NADA as the max you will pay. Now is the time to drive a bargain on used units. I haven't checked NADA but I'll but you can get it for 1/2 the asking price.

As others have said, there are many factors.. How long has the trailer been sitting there? how close to annual inventory? What condition is it in? How is the economy now days? Is anyone else looking at that trailer just now?
Depending on the answers you might go as low as half price.
