G'day just a new boy and need to get a little help - then i will sit back - read a lot and contribute where ever i can - i tend to learn a great deal from these sites.

i live in Melbourne Australia - my suburb is named Seaford and my name is peter - so peterseaford.

i have a tandem caravan and i wonder what you classify these as in your forum.

have only been caravaning for 10 years so still have a great deal to learn.

the wife and i usually visit Queensland for three months of the year with our van and we are planning to go "around the block" next year.

my passion is cooking and photography but as usual they take their place after family and grand kids.

always had a dog as a pet but was always heart broken when they died after many years of loyal friendships. because of our love of caravaning and the problems of van parks not accepting pets i am trying to talk the wife into letting me have either a rat or a ferrit. so far she has not come around.

thanks for letting me join your forum

regards peter

Welcome to the forum, Im sure you'll enjoy it... well... mostly

In North America we typically refer to your tandem ball hitch hard sided caravan as a "Travel Trailer".

What size is your unit (feet length weight etc)? and what do you tow it with ?

Peter, welcome to the forum. I have been to Australia twice and I plan to go again with my oldest grandson in the future.
Most camp grounds are fairly easy going when it comes to pets. Dogs must be under control and you have to clean up after them. We used to have a cat and it was fun having him along with us. Maybe if you started talking to the wife about a pet snake she would settle on a ferrit......

Welcome Peter and I have a few questions for you too. What kind of plug do you have from your tow vehicle to the trailer (here we have a 7 point plug)? What kind of plug ins do you have in your trailer? The reason I ask is because another fellow wanted to buy a trailer here and ship it there, I was curious if the electrical systems even come close to each other. We couldnt predict if the systems would match at all. Since your a photographer could you post a pic of your trailer?.....thanks in advance.

Welcome Peter, I have learned a lot on this site. It will be interesting to compare differences.

2003 Jayco 308fbs eagle 33' tt, towed by a 2003 Ram 3500 slt, quad cab dually, cummins diesel ho, trailer towing package, with 6 speed manual. Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. thanks very much everybody - i feel at home already.

i love Australia as much as you blokes love America and we are both very lucky that we have been so blessed.

i was for one month in China and was shocked to find that she is blessed too and the people - just like us although i needed to "talk" via hand signals.

the electrical systems in our caravans is ac 240 volts and dc 12 volts.

the 240volt system within the van is via 10amp 3 point plugs but connections fromdifference vans to the 240volt van park supply is via 15 amp plug - the in the plug being the earth blade on the 15 amp is bigger.

how is the best way to post photographs because i would hate to bore people silly - should i post to say - Picasa Picture Album and directed others to that site??

it would be my pleasure to "chase up" anything that may assist you concerning Australia

regards and thanks again

peter

ps - thanks for directing me to the correct forum
