Hello:
I have Windows XP and yesterday I started having problems in using Google and Yahoo. When I submit a search from my desktop, I get a message that "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I have tried it on Netscape and get the same message. My laptop seems to work fine. I have run a virus scan and get nothing. I have deleted all cookies and history and still the same.
I have also tried just going to google.com and can't pull up the site. I can pull up yahoo.com but when submitting a search it comes back "can not display web page".
I should add that I can access all other web pages and my computer seems to be working fine other than Google & Yahoo.
I have also turned off the firewall and still get the same results.
Anyone have an idea as to what could be the problem?
Thanks.
Paul.....

Sounds like you are not connected to the Internet...could it be a firewall?

Not a XP problem , but a browser problem . check your settings in "internet options"

I'm using firefox and do several google searches per day.
Sometimes I use MSIE and it works too. No problems
The only time I have a problem is when I'm out and about and WI-FI-STR is telling me the signal strength is in the -80 rande.. (it only goes down to about -85 then I see "NOT CONNECTED" and yes, it buounces about)
At -70 or stronger I don't have that problem
(Wi-Fi Str is a signal strength meter for my laptop)

Same thing here, for some reason it was trying to open a foreign language version of Google. It happened before and a day later was okay.

I was having a problem on a firearms forum recently where i had indivual shortcuts to different threads. When I opened the first one then closed it the others would not work nor would the original when I tried to open it again. This went on for about a week. Then my computer alerted me that I needed to down load Windows Service Pack 3. After down loading it the problem has never happened again.

I am not so sure this one was a "Microsoft Moment" since Google was the only site with the problem at that time. It does come and go, like maybe Google is making some occasional changes. (Upgrades?) Today it is fine and usually is.

Mine does that when I have a flaky signal to the WIFI hookup or when the RV park comm server connection to the internet is not working correctly.
