Chuck hole I think (or just went driving around),
Noticed the tire sitting funny on the rim at home and low and behold, the inside of the outer dual had a gash in the sidewall. Properly inflated and very very little sign of dryrot (have to put your eyeball on it to see some small (1/4" or less checking) thiese tires are friggin new (couple years, but Ill check the dates, they have almost zero wear). Ill have to look up the date codes, but Michelin will be getting a call along with the state. Im replacing all 6 not even a question Probably with brigestone/firestone or goodyears.
Im not familiar with RV tires, just truck tires and always liked firestones.
Whats the skinny with long lasting RV tires (more then a couple years)and what brands and models should I be looking at?
Thanks,
Pat

do a search for Michelin XRV and you will see why you shouldn't buy them.
I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter.....

First thing that they will want other than age, is tire loading for the size. Be prepared, get 4 corner weighing done and know what pressures you had.

If it's a "gash in the sidewall" that's a road hazzard and not covered by any manufacturers warranty.
My only blowout I've ever had was a GoodYear on the '97 Jeep and it was way under it's ratred capacity.
Guess I bettter call my congressman and complain about the shoddy GoodYears out there!!

Check out Sumitomo. I'm starting on my 3rd year with them, with 33,000 miles, and they still look like new.

rr is 17000 90PSI
255/80's
What brands do you guys think,
I allways used Michilens on my cars and firestones for heavy tires and hated goodyear, but i know they make a decent truck tire (semi)

I have the Goodyear G670. Excellent tires. 4 1/2 years old and not one sign of dry cracking.

I will not have a Michelin on my RV just for the problem you have. Be prepared for Michelin to say "not our problem". Also Goodyear is having trouble with their G670 RV tire and is denying any problem or assistance, most of the time. I have 2 of my Goodyear G670 tires "rivering" and as soon as they get to the point of replacement, I will put Toyo tires on it.
