Hello all...quick question. I recently had an oil leak in my Onan gen set and found it to be an expansion plug at the top of the motor. I just got the new one, and was wondering if it is a press fit or I need to secure this in somehow. It looks like a metal contact lense. Any insight would be apreciated since the 4 dealer/repair guys I spoke with so far had no idea and had never encountered such a problem. It looks like the old one had water buildup in the cavity it sits in and eventually rotted out. I plan to cover it somehow with the new install.
Thanks....Raff

It's a press fit. If you have a socket that's a good fit to the opening use that to drive it in square. If it isn't real close to square it will leak and pop out real fast. If it is close to a standard size the cup type are a lot easier to install.

thats the hole where the governor rod came out before they changed to an electric governor
clean the hole with some brake cleaner on a rag then coat around the edge of the plug with loctite then put it in the hole curved side up then take a fat center punch or the socket end of a 3/8 extention a smack it lightly with a hammer until it concaves in
cover with high temp silicone
