If anyone could please give me some info on what I think are drain flies in my motorhome.
Not sure how they got there, But I want them out!!!
Was told by RV service center to pour the "pink" anti-freeze down the sink drain(i think is source of problem, they seem to fly out of there). Next, let pink stuff sit in drain and trap for 30min then fill with hose water, then drain everything.
Do you think this will help or have any better ideas??
I really want to disenfect the pipes and tank so i can get rid of larve. I saw on internet that in homes you need to do this or they keep coming back!
I afraid to use any strong chemicals cause I dont want to damage my RV!
thanks!

I have seen the little drain flies... kind of un-nerving to say the least! I found that if I just leave the valves closed until I am ready to dump, problem solved. When I left the gray water valve open, they came up the drain in the bathroom sink. Pink antifreeze idea dealer sounds good to me, if it will help clean out the drain. But, I think the little buggers would come right back in!

Had them fly out of the toilet one trip. A good shot of Hornet nest-killer type spray (It's pretty strong stuff apparently) down the toilet hole put a stop to'em
And I always keep the valves closed till I dump, but they can easily fly down the vent pipe to get in the tank....

It seems to me a bleach solution would rid them quickly. Bleach won't hurt your plumbing either. You use a bleach solution to disinfect your fresh plumbing anyway....or at least you'd better after storage. Just use a stronger solution down all drains. I would guess around 10 parts water to 1 part bleach. That will knock them dead and disinfect your sewage system at the same time. I would leave the solution in the tanks for days or even during long term storage as long as your RV won't see freezing temps. The bleach will neutralize after a while, so it won't be strong indefinitely.
