We bought a satellite dish for our camper but it will not work unless we run the cable through the window and hook directly to receiver. Does anyone know if there is a modification you can do to the wiring in the TT so we can just hook to the cable outlet outside?

Apparently you do not have satellite prep. The easiest thing to do would be to mount a connector outside and run a cable from it to a connector inside where you want to put the satellite receiver, that is all a satellite prep is. I did that on a TT last year.

If you have a Winegard antenna junction box, that's the problem.

You need to open that up, disconnect the 3 coax cables and find which two coax cables you need to connect (with a barrel connector) to ensure the OUTSIDE connector is directly connected to the INSIDE connector.

Then your satellite, not satelitte, will work.

Someone posted a modification of the amplifier switchbox plate a while back... Maybe one of our other members can reference that link or you could do a search for it...

I did this just a short time ago. I purchased from Radio Shack two male connectors and installed one on the outside and one on the inside connected with a short coax cable. Works fine. Messing with the inside wingard connector was too complicated for me. Good Luck..

If you want to use your satellite when cable hookup is not available and cable when it is available, then you need to get a Diplexer..you can get it at any Radioshack, but they're cheaper from like a HomeDepot or Lowes. What it is used for is it allows you to combine your Satellite and Cable signals through one wire, but then this device descrables the signal. You'll find it in the cable section...it looks just like a normal Cable splitter, but it will say Diplexer instead of splitter or something like that. It will have Sat In - Cable In and then an Output. It's pretty simple, where you're Antennae booster is at is where more than likely where you'll want to put this. When you open up the booster, you'll see 3 wires. 1 for incoming cable, one for incoming ant., and 1 outgoing. You'll want to bypass the booster for the cable...you can keep ant. plugged in. You'll take the cable (not ant.) and now plug that into the "Out" of the diplexer. This then will descramble your signal in reverse. Now on your diplexer you'll have a "Sat In" and "Cable In"...you now get two jumper coax cables, connect them to the Sat In and Cable In...and you're ready to go. If you want to watch Satellite, simply plug your Dish into your cable outlet on the outside of the trailer and plug in the "Sat In" jumper to the Receiver. If you want to watch cable if available, plug the cable into the external outlet, and then plug the "Cable In" jumper into your TV. This is ONLY if you want to be able to use your cable for both Sat and Cable...if I'm going to a CG that has cable..I leave the Dish at home.

DH did exactly as TVman said. Added an exterior connection that goes to the interior for the satellite. Didn't mess with the cable connection as we might want that sometime.

I installed a exterior cable jack I located this jack this jack in an exterior wall that allowed the cable to enter my TT in close proximity to my satellite receiver. This gave me a dedicated satellite jack. Fairly simple to do, but you will need to drill a whole in the exterior wall of your RV.
